Whom You Know Loves the Bears of the Bella Bear Company!

Whom You Know believes in bears, and we believe in the pursuit of excellence and great ideas. How glad we are that we found the Bella Bear Company, which is a combination of all three! We liked it so much you will see that the site has been added to Peachy's favorites.

Peachy Deegan met Julie Beran Lamarre, founder of Bella Bear Company, recently in Manhattan, and although this is not a Manhattan-based company we believe these are the best bears anywhere!

Bella Bear Company just celebrated its 10th anniversary and they have made thousands of teddy bears over the past 10 years using reclaimed furs. Whom You Know thinks this is a fabulous idea.

The foundation of their business is family first. Julie started making teddy bears as a hobby when she was 16 and it paid for college, but when her daughter was born Julie wanted to spend more time with her. About a year later, Julie was divorced and the cost of daycare didn't leave much money to work with so her entrepreneurship and love of bears kicked in.

She decided that as the company grew that she would hire women to work from home on a per piece basis. Although it makes their costs a little higher, it is worth having a quality product made in the US. We at Whom You Know love this too.

The bears are available online at www.bellabearco.com, and are also present in upscale giftstores and boutiques around the US. They partnered with InCircle for the Neiman Marcus/Bergdorff Goodman loyalty rewards program for the 2008 season. As the bears are growing in popularity they have been invited to attend various gifting suties such as the El Padres Cancer Research Foundation hosted by Eva Longoria and the GBK Golden Globes Gift Suite.

The company was named after Julie's daughter Bella and now that she is 10, her philanthropic nature is kicking in and she has started a charity called Bella's Bear Hugs. They collect new and gently used teddy bears that are distributed to the national police and fire departments as well as Loving Hugs that partners with the US Navy to distribute to refugee camps, warzones and hospitals overseas.

From Whom You Know: Good night, sleep tight, and snuggle up with your Bella Bear!
