UNITED WAY AND NATIONAL PARTNERS PROVIDE PHILANTHROPIC-MINDED SHOPPERS WITH MORE WAYS TO GIVE DURING HOLIDAYS

American Express Gift Cards, GE appliances and other alternative gift ideas help improve lives

Today’s cause-conscious consumer is choosing to purchase gifts that give back. In response,United Way and its national partners are working together to create more innovative opportunities to support local communities during the holiday season, especially given the economy.

"This Holiday season is more poignant than most others in communities around America,” said United Way Worldwide Executive Vice President of Investor Relations Atul Tandon. “Beneath the holiday cheer, many families are struggling to meet primary needs—kids’ education, a mother's hospital bills, light and heat at home, care for parents. People want to reach out and help as much as they can. They have the urge to care and share. These innovative partnerships with United Way's corporate partners offer all of us more ways to do just that."
