An Update from Our Fabulous Mover and Shaker, Olympian and Silver Medalist Tim Morehouse

We first featured Tim as a Mover and Shaker:

Then we showed you how he showed President Obama how it is done:

Tim now writes us:

Hi from Istanbul Peachy and Whom You Know readers!
Hope all is well with you!  I'm flying home from Turkey and had some time to write so wanted to send you a quick update on the start of our season.    The international season kicked off this past weekend with the Istanbul World Cup.   I placed 6th out of about 120 competitors from around the world.   This is the first of 11 world cups and 1 of 6 over the next 10 weeks!   I had previously taken a Silver Medal at the North American Cup in Pittsburgh, so the campaign to qualify for the Paris World Championships is off to a solid start for me.

I actually have some good video from this tournament!  The link below is to a short video of the final 3 points of my match to advance to the Quarter-Finals as well as to a little commentary on it.   My opponent actually made fun of my fencing during the match (not nice! lol) and on the 13-13 point I turned around mid-action and stopped fencing because I thought I hit!  When I turned back around, he was barreling at and trying to score while I wasn't looking...somehow I still scored the point! He then complained that I had stopped fencing! lol Can't have it both ways buddy!

My fellow national team members also had a strong competition.  Ben Igoe, Daryl Homer and James Williams all finished in the top-16.  Jason Rogers finished in the top-32.  The top-4 at the end of the season qualify for World Championships.

My goal this season is to move into the top-8 in the world individually and for our team to be in the top-4.  I've been as high as 10.   I will need to continue to make strong results over the next 4 months of our season to accomplish these two goals.

We've been upping our training regiment, I really do believe its amount of quality repetitions that ultimatley make the difference and I felt very strong at this competition.   I'm training about 5 hours a day right now which includes 2-3 hours of physical training and 2-3 hours of fencing.   The folks at Bodhizone have been working wonders on my 31 year old body to keep it stronger than ever!  Also, our coach Yury Gelman has recovered fully from cancer so he is back to coaching us.  A HUGE boost for all of us!  We competed almost all of last season without him so needless to say, it's good have him back and healthy!

In other news, I've signed with a literary agency and am currently working on a book that I hope to sell to a publishing company over the next few months.  It will be an inspirational/lessons on life type of book.   More to come on this!   I'm also still working hard to land additional sponsorship so I can keep my focus squarely on training and competing and not have to worry about the financial part of this journey which is always a challenge for small sport athletes.

Thanks for all your continued support!  Onwards to the Budapest World Cup in 12 days and the Moscow World Cup in 17!

Yours,
Tim
