Exclusive Interview: Amy Smilovic chats with Peachy Deegan about her Fall 2010 Collection- An Update from one of our Most Favorite Movers and Shakers! Whom You Know thinks Tibi is one of the Best Designers in Manhattan!

It goes without saying that Whom You Know loves Tibi.  Amy Smilovic has been a Mover and Shaker:
We reviewed her Fall 2010 Show:
and the makeup too:

So, we were so pleased to be given the chance to chat with designer Amy Smilovic on her latest collection!  We love Amy Smilovic and we love Tibi.  Not only are they great designers but they are also nice people.  As we always say, it is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice.  Here is the latest from Amy!

Peachy Deegan: How were you first inspired by Napoleon and Josephine?
Amy Smilovic: Inspiration comes to me like a wave or a rolling tide. I was first inspired by contrast and contradiction, masculine vs feminine and bold vs muted tones. As I began sketching a military theme emerged and from there I arrived at Napoleon and Josephine.

What were your favorite items from the collection and why?
My favorite looks from the collection are the Chiffon & CDC Armée Bodysuit in nude and the Josephine Spun Silk Pant in Navy; Decoupage Appliqué Strapless Dress over the Fog Whisper Tee and the Midnight Forest Column Gown.  These pieces speak to all my moods for this season- masculine and feminine layering, subtle colors with dramatic pops and longer  hemlines.

The hair on the models was wild!  And unique.  What gave you that idea?
With the clothes so sophisticated, subtle and put together, I wanted hair that was the polar opposite- very young, wild and carefree.

Bobbi Brown told us you worked with them and we posted the make-up color chart.  What drew you to BB?
This was a season about opposites making sense; same for makeup--young and fresh!!!!

What is your Spring 2011 collection going to be like?
Spring 2011 will be very soft. I am tired of the hardness I am seeing everywhere.

When do you start planning the "next" collection typically?
I have already started working on Spring 2011. I was in Paris last week gaining inspiration; it will be all about whites, cleanliness and texture. The rest will come to me little by little.

Of all of the shows you have done over your career how did this one compare?
I am very pleased with the reception of the show and how it turned out. It’s an incredible high when you see everything come together, though that lasts about 10 min because you know you have to get moving on the next collection..

What is your most favorite show/collection you've done?
I always seem to love my current collection the best; but my next two favorites are Spring 2010 and Spring 2007

Thank you to Amy and the fabulous Tibi team from Whom You Know!
