GoodLight Natural Candles Recommended by Whom You Know

After years of development, GoodLight Natural Candles is proud to finally be launching a complete line of completely non‐toxic, clean‐burning candles at prices that compete with the ubiquitous paraffin utility candle. Based out of New York and Colorado, GoodLight offers a full range of 100% paraffin‐free, unscented votives, tea lights, pillars, and tapers available for re-sale and industry use. Whom You Know has tested and tried these candles and we recommend them!

Their mission is to provide an affordable, non-toxic alternative utility candle to customers so that they do not have to breathe paraffin pollution any longer. While paraffin-free candles are nothing new, soy and beeswax candles have always been priced in a way that beyond the budget of consumers of bulk utility candles—the votives burning on countless restaurant tables and church altars, or the cheap tea light candles you see sold in bags of 50 at the drugstore. Unfortunately, these candles are made of paraffin wax, a petroleum byproduct from oil refineries.

A study done at South Carolina State University last year linked the chemicals found in paraffin candle fumes to cancer, birth defects, and such respiratory ailments as asthma. Still, many industry and retail consumers continue to buy these candles, mostly because they are so cheap (not surprisingly, as many are made in Chinese sweatshops).

GoodLight is revolutionizing the candle industry by offering 100% palm wax candles at prices far lower than any other paraffin-free competitor. GoodLight has its candles made in a clean and modern facility in Malaysia, where workers are treated well, earn a fair wage, and are provided with health insurance. The wax they use is refined from a renewable resource—the fruit of the oil palm tree, the most efficient oil-producing crop in the world. The oil palm tree lives for 25 years, is non‐GMO, and produces up to 10x more oil per acre than soy and rapeseed while requiring much less fertilizer, pesticide, and irrigation than those crops. And best of all, palm wax burns is completely non-toxic and clean burning.

While the oil palm has little impact on the environment, the same cannot always be
said for the palm industry as a whole. But GoodLight is a proud member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and GreenPalm, organizations that are spearheading the effort to promote and enforce sustainable farming and social responsibility within the industry. GoodLight Natural Candles, a contributing member of 1% For The Planet, believes palm oil is part of the solution, and they are endeavoring to prove that the voice of the U.S. consumer can help positively influence the palm oil industry.
