READ THIS: The Little Hiptionary by the Peter Pauper Press

We know we have the hippest readers around, however, it can never hurt to have a quick brush-up, especially before Fashion Week. How can you tell a "blog" from a "bleg" or a "wanksta" from a "gangsta"? Not fluent in the new urban slang, techno-talk, consultobabble, sports jargon, and neo word-blends at every turn? Chillax. This slanguage glossary features more than 300 definitions and usage examples of the hippest new words and expressions, arranged alphabetically in chapters organized by theme.  A hip little gift book!
144 pages; 4-1/4" wide x 5-3/4" high; concealed wire-o binding. Book lies flat for ease of use; elastic band place holder.

Peachy put some of the hippest people she knows on this panel, and they say:

The Little Hiptionary by Peter Pauper Press, Inc. is extremely funny and witty. A classic little book giving very funny definitions to some “slang” words we use everyday and many new ones that I love. Everything from “Business Slang”, to “Popular Slang” to “Tech and Online Slang” to “Sports Slang” and all are extremely hilarious. You will adopt some new great lingo to treat friends ears with. Great conversational pieces for dinner parties, bars, and just friend to friend banter. I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s a quick easy read, that’s hard to put down. Much like Peter Pauper Press “The Little Black Book of Poker”, it’s a fantastic bathroom/coffee table book that will get many giggles. I am still laughing at “slack-a-dem-ic” – a perpetual college student; someone who pursues an undergraduate degree full-time for upwards of five years. AWESOME

When I was in high school my nick name was dork. It didn’t help that I was the tallest kid in the city and I wore a bright orange hat all winter to every basketball game. Needless to say I wasn’t hip at all and was not up on the latest slang, always a day late and dollar short. Today, I'm really no different. I still wear the bright orange hat all winter and until recently I had no idea what my younger coworkers were talking about at the water cooler. Thanks to the Hiptionary, though, I can finally understand and even contribute to the water cooler conversations. This pocket size book is a fun read that helps decipher today’s hip slang. Every page is full of words that are not in a normal dictionary. Most words are a combination of 2 words to make one slang word such as frenemy, which is a friend who acts more like an enemy. The Hipitionary has several sections that will help you become a well rounded slang “thrower”. I find myself reading the business slang and the tech and online slang section over and over. I hear most of these words in my office. From time to time I throw in some classic slang when I need to “fix someone’s wagon”. I think the book is meant to be funny, but the truth is I find it most useful!
