Terrific Takeout: The Earl of Sandwich

We don't always tell you where Peachy Deegan comes up with her brilliant ideas, but in this case, we will!  As you know, her first journalism opportunity was on CBS Sunday Morning years ago, and she still watches it.
Watch this:
If you're going to eat a sandwich, you should do it right and make sure you get one done by the Earl of Sandwich.  As we head into the winter months, hot sandwiches are more popular than ever and the best in town are here!
And there really is an Earl of Sandwich:
In 1762, John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, had his hands full, literally. As First Sea Lord, he commanded the mighty British Navy, was a noted explorer, and also a dedicated gambler with a love of day long card games.

This led to little time for food, so he came up with the ingenious idea (some say at the card table) of putting meat between two slices of bread. From then on it did not matter if you were fighting a great sea battle or laying down a Royal Flush, you could eat great food without too much fuss.

Thus in 1762, the sandwich was named after its inventor, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Now 250 years later, the current 11th Earl and the Sandwich family remain passionate about the world's most popular quick food that carries their name and have developed the sandwich everyone has been waiting for…
THE WORLD'S GREATEST HOT SANDWICH®
And Whom You Know is absolutely thrilled they have made it to the shores of Manhattan!
We sipped on their signature brew-the Earl's Grey Lemonade, which is a mixture of lemonade and fresh brewed Earl Grey tea.  A lovely combination no matter what the weather!
Then we thought, if we were the first Earl, what would we eat?
Of course, potato chips and have a look - they have their own label.
You know overseas they are called crisps!
The original 1862 we just had to try, and every bite was simply delicious!
Freshly roasted beef, sharp cheddar cheese, and creamy horseradish sauce await you on nicely toasted artisan loaf, and in this weather it will totally hit the spot:
Some sandwiches are just sandwiches, but not here.  Every last detail is attended to and you will be feasting on a proper sandwich, the way it was intended!
We also tried the Italian:
Salami, capicola, roasted ham, mortadella, zesty italian dressing, mozzarella cheese and roma tomatoes are a symphony of mediterranean delights that will warm your stomach and your spirit:
We cannot help but think this would be perfect after skating in either Central Park or Rockefeller Center-it is not far from either on 52nd between 5th and 6th.  We hear there is another downtown as well.
We thought we ought to balance our salad out with a healthy salad, and The Earl's Cobb was calling our name.  It also seemed the most traditional to try, and we are really into the tradition of this endeavor!  Grilled chicken, smoked bacon, aged swiss, sharp cheddar, field greens and romaine lettuce, roma tomatoes, cucumber, cranberries and buttermilk ranch dressing combine to form a knockout salad.  We particularly loved the cranberries which were a particularly festive addition, and you should know that this salad is truly fresh, not like at lesser places where salads seem to sit around forever and wilt when you eat them.  We even loved the dressing, which happens once in a blue moon.
It tastes every bit as fabulous as it looks.
The best dessert according to Peachy Deegan are the cute little chocolate cupcakes, which we warn you in advance, show strong signs of being habit-forming.  We understand their proper name is "Brownie Bites."
And here is their close up:
The final touch for a warm-up to your day?
The chicken noodle soup was simply fantastic and a lovely side to any sandwich!
The Earl of Sandwich is definitely Terrific Takeout, and it is highly recommended by Whom You Know.
