READ THIS: Everyday Adventures: A Florida Outdoors Guide by Terry Tomalin. Book design by Nikki Life

Thirty-seven years ago I was selected for a new job opportunity in Central Florida, leaving behind thirty, cold, long winters in New England. My daughters were four and seven years old at the time and we hit all of the popular local attractions and the World's Most Famous Beach, Daytona Beach, almost on a weekly basis. Now, they are doing the same thing with their children, enjoying life at the fullest. Since I retired and the kids are gone, we now have a some time for ourselves. I picked up a book called "Everyday Adventures, A Florida Outdoors Guide," by Terry Tomalin, Outdoors Editor of the St. Petersburg Times. Anyone wanting to get away from all of theme parks and city life will enjoy this well-written book. Day trips are easy to plan and will bring you closer to nature than you have ever been before. Chapters cover boating on various rivers, springs, state parks and waterways. Mr. Tomalin is your personal fishing guide on what type of fish you can expect to catch at various locations around the state. He takes you on scenic walking trails, under the sea for a different type of fishing and cave diving, which has its dangers, so be careful doing that and follow all the rules posted. If camping is your thing, Tom has some great suggestions on where to go and what you'll see. Surfers listen up, new locations to test your skills against those waves, be it on your surf board, kite board, body surfing or with your boogie board. If none of those things catch your eye, how about places to go to ride your ATV, watch birds, and yes we even have ziplining in a flat state. There are so many things to do in your spare time in Florida and this book opens your eyes to many of them. Check out www.seasidepublishing.com on how to get a copy for yourself.

When someone says they are going to Florida for vacation, the first things that come to mind are Disney, beaches, and Key West. After living in Florida for over a year, I can attest that there is so much more to see! Everyday Adventures: A Florida Outdoors Guide, by Terry Tomalin shows a side of Florida that, unfortunately, too many never get to see while spending time there. The book divides up the adventures into different sections, such as waterways, hiking, fishing, and many more. This makes it easy for you to find the types of activities you would most enjoy. Tomalin gives a great explanation for each of the adventures he recommends. He even makes sure to add a special tip as well. If you have a trip to Florida coming up, I highly recommend picking up a copy of this book to see many of the great things the state has to offer that you probably never knew about. Even if you don't have a trip planned, checking out this book might cause you to start planning one!

Florida is a place that you probably have gone to many times already and will plan to go back again and again. It’s easy and warm and a quick flight from the Northeast. With the help from Everyday Adventures, “A Florida Outdoors Guide” you can have an unique visit next time. It is about time to go off the beaten path and see some of the most incredible places and things Florida has to offer. From Day Trips to swimming with the manatees and from the Everglades to adventure biking you there is something for every adventurer. Love the format with Terry’s Tips to ensure success and that you make the most of the day. It is also is the perfect size to travel with and fits in a pack to go.
