Fabulous Food Trucks: Eddie's Pizza

For a quick bite to eat, Eddie's Pizza is a great option for lunch around the corner!
Often found on the Upper East side, Eddie's is the second food truck we've ever reviewed and you know we think pizza is one of the four food groups.  To that end, we tried their vegetarian version which hit the spot, and although the angel on her shoulder ordered it, the devil on her shoulder added pepperoni which balanced it out nicely thought Peachy Deegan.  The crust is the thinnest we've ever seen so if you like thin crusts, this is your kind of pizza.
The vegetables were fresh and we particularly liked the broccoli and the green peppers.
A side salad is a good idea and they were good to put the dressing on the side.
Finally, we tried the prosciutto sandwich which is exactly as you'd expect it to be.  The bread was fresh and fluffy!  Here is the full menu:

They tell us: Americans, and New Yorkers in particular, tend to be passionate about pizza. Whether it’s Sicilian, thin crust, loaded with toppings, or slimmed down, pizza is - and forever will be - a quick meal that few can live without. And when a pizzeria perfects a recipe to be both high in flavor and low in fat, a star eatery is born.  [Their pizzeria is not in Manhattan, but their truck can be!]

Derek Kaye, a life-long fan of the pizzas, recognized the need for a metropolitan outpost for Eddie’s, but with Manhattan’s rents on the rise, a permanent spot was out of the question. With a passion for pizza, Kaye set out to design a mobile food truck that could recreate the recipe on-the-go. The Eddie’s Pizza Truck will use the same bar pie recipe and cooking methods as the restaurant, ensuring that the end result will not disappoint. Kaye and his team will make pizzas fresh to order each day, ensuring that only the freshest and best ingredients are used.

So, what can you expect from a mobile pizzeria? Regular and whole wheat pies will be served as 10” or 16” individual servings, with toppings varying on a daily basis. The lunch special includes a bar pie, side, and drink for just $10. With plans to expand in the future, Eddie’s Pizza Truck, for the time-being will be serving lunch in Midtown and Downtown.

To track down the truck, simply follow the crew on Twitter (@EddiesPizzaNY), Facebook (The Eddie’s Pizza Truck), the website (www.EddiesPizzaNY.com), or simply give them a call at 917.439.7522.

Eddie’s Pizza Truck made its debut on June 10, 2010.
