Iconic New York can mean so many things to so many different people, but we can assure you that in the opening images of New Year's Eve you'll agree that each and every one resonates with you, if you've been here, and all are spot-on.  The horse and carriage (though not our pal Max-Max, we were looking for you!), the big lights on Sixth Avenue -do you notice the theme-great minds think alike, right Warner Brothers?! We've featured all of these aspects of course-, the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, FAO Schwartz...it is all what you know and love about New York, every spot. They set the scene for this winner by Warner Brothers that boasts one splendid blockbuster cast that is up to the performance and ready to delight you in this feel-good movie of the springtime, ready for Blu-ray Combo pack, DVD and for download TOMORROW, May 1st! And we hope we're the very first to tell you.

If you have seen Valentine's Day, we think this movie is similar to a degree but even better because it celebrates the holiday of Manhattan: New Year's Eve!  This movie is the celebration of hope in live that can be applied to any time of the year-so don't get bogged down in the fact that it is not January right now.

2011 is the New Year that is celebrated, and Ryan Seacrest does make an appearance.  Sadly, we all know Dick Clark recently passed and no one can think about anything having to do with New Year's Eve and not think about Dick Clark.  Surely he is monitoring this huge release from heaven...

The characters in this movie really make it stand out, and as you are drawn into each relationship and each vignette with its own twists and turns, you'll be wondering how each will conclude as you keep each straight in your head...and who knows, maybe some of them will even interact!  Academy Award winners Robert De Niro (two times...you remember we enjoyed seeing him at this New York Women's Foundation event with his wife Grace Hightower De Niro) and Hilary Swank (two times too) Halle Berry, are joined by Academy Award Nominees Michelle Pfiffer Abigail Breslin and a winning cast that also includes
Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Hector Elizondo, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Til Schweiger.

Naturally, another big star of the show is Times Square itself, which evokes the Times Square Alliance, and Hilary Swank plays the role of Vice President of this esteemed Manhattan organization.  She's got the biggest job in town: making sure the ball drops properly.  We don't know that this has ever gone wrong in this history...and if it was your responsibility, you wouldn't want to be the first to have a mishap either!  Hopefully she does not...but be sure to watch starting tomorrow!

With New Year's comes new lives and the passing of loved ones...these are relevant themes that are introduced from scene to scene.  And not that we'd know, but we'd hate to think some of the suggested methods would start labor-but for such a cash sum we can see why some would be convincing to try!  Want to see pregnant women battle!?! Wouldn't everyone want a nurse like Halle Berry?  And want to wait on someone like Robert De Niro!

If you are old enough to remember the New Kids on the Block and you know Peachy, you know that Joe McIntrye is her favorite of the bunch and he made an appearance in the great state of Connecticut too!

Our favorite character is that of Ingrid, played by Michelle Pfieffer.  You almost won't recognize her as a brunette!  The dynamic between Ingrid and Paul, played by Zac Efron is the most unique and most convincing, and embodies the true spirit of New Year's the best among the contrasting scenes in this movie.  Let us just start by saying he is not your typical messenger.  Their electric interaction is most surprising and follow them along if you want to sign up for fun.  We particularly loved their breakfast scene, which should surprise no one.  And the Bali scene is terribly Spa Peachy...now we want to know where she went!  Though she is "a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic" (by Efron on Pfieffer) she comes out of her shell and you have to see it.

You never would see Carrie Bradshaw in clogs, but you see Sarah Jessica Parker in this one, playing single mom to Abigail Breslin.  This strained relationship with a lot of love gives you new respect for parenting in Manhattan...we looked up Myrtle Avenue and to be exact, it's another borough.  But Sarah Jesssica's character is a trooper to brave the crowds of Times Square in their most crazy time.

Rockettes in Reindeer Costumes, throwing eggs at a poster of a past man that deserves it, galas at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, our favorite, what's not to love!
And Sam (Josh Duhamel) concludes:
"Sometimes it feels like there are so many things we can't control, earthquakes, floods, reality shows. But it's important to remember the things we can, like forgiveness, second chances, fresh starts. Because the one thing that turns the world from a lonely place to a beautiful place, is love. Love in any of its forms. Love gives up hope, hope for the New Year. That's New Year's Eve to me. Hope, and a great party."

Celebrate the hope of a New Year and bring some magic to your life this spring!
Whom You Know Highly Recommends New Year's Eve!  Make watching it your May 2012 resolution!  Bravo Warner Brothers!
