READ THIS: Mrs. Noodlekugel By Daniel Pinkwater

First of all any book named Mrs. Noodlekugel has my attention. What title could be sillier and more intriguing? This story about two children Nick and Maxine is creative and great for children of all ages. Not only does it have adventure but it also has great characters. From four silly mice to Mrs. Noodlekugel to the two children and a cat, lots of fun happens. If only every mother could find a babysitter as a fun and entertaining as Mrs. Noodlekugel and her band of funny assistants. So fall in love with this new character and book. The best news yet, is that Mrs. Noodlekugel will be starring in her next story coming next year!

"Mrs. Noodlekugel" by Daniel Pinkwater was my son's first "chapter book."  I wasn't sure what he would make of it as there are minimal illustrations (fabulous though they are by Adam Stower!) and it is a little longer story than he is used to. I needn't have worried though, he loved it! "Mrs. Noodlekugel" is the story of siblings Nick and Maxine who live in a tall apartment building surrounded by other apartment buildings. One day they notice a small house behind their building and they decide to investigate (against their parents' wishes!). When follows is a wonderfully entertaining story filled with imagination and wonder. My son loved this book and so did I! I highly recommend this book to parents who want to start chapter books with their children...this one is a winner!

I've read several of Daniel Pinkwater's books before and loved them. When I saw he was coming out with a new book, I was so excited. Mrs. Noodlekugel has to be my new favorite book of Mr. Pinkwater's. A brother and sister pair who like to do the opposite of what their parents ask end up finding a secret magical world in the backyard behind their apartment. The adventures at Mrs. Noodlekugel's proves to be funny and heartwarming. It is such an easy read, that many students couldn't wait to check it out of the class library. I even had many students want to know if they could create their own Mrs. Noodlekugel type of story. I highly recommend it.

Mrs. Noodlekugel is really a fun book to read. Mrs. Noodlekugel meets Mary Poppins! She becomes a babysitter for Nick and Maxine and the modern day fairy tale. The story is very cute and so much fun to read. This is a wonderful book for any children's library. It's also great to give as a gift. I love reading this book at bedtime to my daughter. Once you start reading this story you won't be able to put the book down!

With signature wit and whimsy, the inimitable Daniel Pinkwater introduces an eccentric, endearing babysitter every child will wish they could have.
Nick and Maxine live in a tall building with one apartment on top of another. So when they look out their window and see a little house they never knew was there, of course they must visit (especially when their parents tell them not to!). Going through the boiler room, they're amazed to find to a secret backyard with a garden, a porch, and a statue of a cat. And they're even more amazed when that cat starts to talk. . . . Welcome to the world of Mrs. Noodlekugel, where felines converse and serve cookies and tea, vision-impaired mice join the party (but may put crumbs up their noses), and children in search of funny adventures are drawn by the warm smell of gingerbread and the promise of magical surprises.
