William Hill Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!

When I am looking for a nice red wine to calm me down after a tough day at work, I usually grab a cabernet sauvignon. It is also my top choice when choosing a wine to go with dinner. So it's always a pleasure when I find a new bottle that I really love. William Hill Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the southeastern slopes of Napa Valley's Silverado Bench. This wine really is exceptional, just as the bottle claims! The deep ruby color really caught my eye as I poured it into the glass. Then, wonderful aromas of berries and vanilla enticed me to the first sip! This wine is truly wonderful. The taste is powerful with a mixture of fresh berries, dark chocolate, and caramel. It will really please your palate!
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of my favorite types of wine. I love it for its deep red color and berry aromas. Its rich beauty truly draws me in and makes me want to sip on it for hours on end! William Hill Napa Valley Cabernet has an aroma melded with hints of raspberry, dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry! These are some of my favorite fruits and they really enhance the wine! It also has notes of jam, sweet vanilla and dark chocolate which you can certainly taste on your palate! I enjoyed this bottle with a steak salad amongst friends and we thought the pairing was excellent! Not only did we have a wonderful time together but also thoroughly enjoyed this bottle. There was not even a drop left! Now that I know how wonderful this vineyard's wines are, I will be enjoying them a lot more often!
Raf Holdenried had only been on board at William Hill Estate Winery for one year before he crafted this elegant Cabernet Sauvignon. He came from Germany, with wine in his background, to California, where he became the winemaker at William Hill in 2007. His vision is apparent in this Cabernet. Redolent of berry, with an undernote of warm caramel, or vanilla, this Cabernet bears witness to what a good wine should be. William Hill prides itself on being off the "beaten path". The Napa Valley has many different grapes, and wineries, indeed, and this one is definitely worth making a note of. This Cabernet Sauvignon (just the name is delightful) is smooth, with a creamy balance, and a depth that give a good finish. It's an expressive wine, and even better on the second day.  S
erve it with your main course, perhaps duck, to better experience the berries. Buy a few bottles to tuck away in your cellar, it's that good.
Although I am a fan of wine in general, and have a number of favorite grapes, there are some days when nothing but a big, bold, California cab will do. Luckily for me, I was in just this kind of mood the other day when I uncorked a bottle of William Hill Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon the other evening. As I inhaled deeply through my nose, I was overwhelmed by the lush aromas of berries and cherries, with a touch of creamy vanilla. I swirled it around a little more in my glass, enjoying the deep, ruby red color, took one more sniff, and then my first sip. As suspected, the first flavors I tasted were those big, bold, fruit flavors. They danced around on my tongue a bit, giving way to a full mouth-feel with caramel and vanilla undertones. The finish was long and rewarding, and rounded out by a hint of spice. It was all I'd hoped for and more. Rich, bold, and complex, it hits all of the right notes for a California cab and adds in a few of its own, unique touches. A definite winner in my book, and a wine I'll definitely be keeping in stock for myself and recommending to oenophile friends!
William Hill Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is good to the last drop! Pop open a bottle and see for yourself. This rich Cabernet Sauvignon is amazing! The beautiful color says a lot. I love the fruity aroma. It tastes delicious! This is a wine that I like to enjoy as cold as possible on a nice hot day. I also love to sip it on its own. You can pair it with a nice meal but trust me drinking it with some small aperitifs is better. Try it out yourself and you'll see how great it is!

Down the road from William Hill Estate lie some of the world’s finest Chardonnay vineyards. Just off the Silverado Trail in southern Napa, our estate property is ideal for growing red Bordeaux varietals. The volcanic soil, the sloping terrain, and the size and vigor of the vines here mean William Hill is more like a mountaintop vineyard – perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes in our 2008 William Hill Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon came entirely from our estate vineyard, yielding bright red fruit flavors with hints of blueberry and red cherry.

Tucked away in the rolling hills of Napa Valley, along the Silverado Trail, lies an undiscovered stretch of picturesque benchland vineyard. William Hill Estate Winery sits at the center of this vineyard – in the heart of the Silverado Bench – crafting contemporary, sophisticated wines that tell the story of a very different kind of Napa Valley.

A Napa Valley that is off the beaten path. A Napa Valley where wine connoisseurs get an intimate wine tasting experience along the Silverado Trail.

In 1978, visionary vineyard developer William Hill saw the incredible potential of the Silverado Bench, where he built his namesake winery. Three decades later, William Hill winemaker Ralf Holdenried is making modern wines that speak to the unique terroir of this virtually unknown area of southern Napa Valley.

A Unique Estate Vineyard

A confluence of characteristics makes William Hill’s 140-acre estate an ideal vineyard. Set on a benchland – off the valley floor, but below the steeper slopes of the hills – with a southwestern exposure, the vineyard basks in abundant sunlight. Vineyards in Southern Napa are typically cooler, but the sun exposure on the Silverado Bench makes William Hill a notable exception.

The vineyard is close to the valley floor climatically, but the volcanic soil and the size and vigor of the vines means William Hill is more like a mountaintop vineyard. These elements translate to fruit-driven, expressive red Bordeaux varietals with elegant tannin structure.

Significant variation in aspect, drainage and sun exposure – even from row to row – has prompted winemaker Ralf Holdenried to carve out specific vineyard blocks, some as small as one-tenth of an acre. The grapes from each block are picked at their optimal ripeness and fermented separately, allowing Ralf to bring the full expression of the vineyard into the bottle. The result is a range of concentrated, balanced blends with multi-dimensional layers.

A Contemporary Winery

It is no coincidence that William Hill Estate Winery was designed with the winemaker in mind. The vineyard is just outside the winery door, giving Ralf the freedom to be involved in every aspect of the winemaking process. “During harvest, I want to be out in the vineyard where all the flavors are developing, but I also want to be in the winery for the next steps,” says Ralf. “At William Hill, I have the great luxury of seeing what we’ve picked in a given day and then tasting from the fermentation tanks, almost instantaneously.”

Ingenuity converges with artistry at William Hill, a midsize artisanal winery. Designed for optimal flexibility, the winery supports Ralf’s approach of carving out vineyard blocks and letting their flavors develop individually. “The number of tanks and barrels we have in relation to the grapes on the land means I can make decisions about blending once the individual lots have had a chance to show their true potential,” explains Ralf. “This winery facilitates an artistic influence over the wine.”
