Souverain's 2010 North Coast Sauvignon Blanc Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!

There is nothing better than relaxing on a warm summer evening with a glass of perfectly chilled white wine. Allow me to set the scene. It was a Friday at the end of a long, hard week. I opened my refrigerator and while reaching for the seltzer, something far better caught my eye. An unopened bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. And not just any bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, but Souverain's 2010 North Coast Sauvignon Blanc! Suddenly my day seemed brighter. At that moment, my phone rang. It was my mom who was also at the end of a long, hard week. Arrangements were made. We met on my back patio, kicked back and enjoyed a cool breeze while sipping our glasses of a perfect Sauvignon Blanc and laughing and chatting. Thank you, Souverain and expert Winemaker Ed Killian, for crafting such a lovely vino. This Sauvignon Blanc, hailing from California's North Coast, is fresh, fruity and lively. I have another bottle chilling just waiting for the right time to be enjoyed with loved ones. I highly suggest you do the same.
Ah, Sauvignon Blanc - my favorite variety of wine! One of the things I enjoy most about it is that it has such a range of possibility for flavors. The descriptions bandied about for it are seemingly endless: grassy, pungent, herbaceous, asparagus, gooseberry, melon, grapefruit, vanilla, nutmeg...well, you get the idea! And even among California Sauvignon Blancs, there is a huge variety of flavor profiles, which makes it hard to pin down. Generally speaking, though, there tend to be 2 main categories: wines which are aged primarily in steel, which gives them a crisp, refreshing flavor, and those aged in oak, which gives them a smoother, creamier flavor, similar to Chardonnay. I recently had the pleasure of trying the Souverain 2010 North Coast Sauvignon Blanc, which is decidedly in the former category, although it was aged 30% in oak, so there is a smoothness and complexity to it, as well. The wine was filled with tropical fruit aromas and citrus aromas, which instantly lifted my mood. The palate was crisp and dry, with excellent tropical fruit flavor, as well as the minerality typical of Sauvignon Blancs. The finish was long and rich (thanks to that 30% oak aging, I'm sure)! This is, hands down, one of the best California Sauvignon Blancs I've had in recent memory. I could see it pairing well with just about any kind of cuisine, or simply being enjoyed on its own on a warm summer night. Kudos to the winemakers at Souverain for producing such a stellar vintage!

Of all the white wines I've tried over the last few years, Sauvignon Blanc has been my favorite. I couldn't believe I've never tried the Souverain 2010 North Coast Sauvignon Blanc before now. With an aroma of citrus and a flavor of tropical fruits, this has to be my favorite brand, hands down. This is a wine I'll have a hard time sharing with anyone. My favorite pairing of this wine was with some pasta and marinara sauce. My neighbor came over when I had this wine with the pasta, and she loved it as well. This is a wine that I will have to keep stocked in my wine cabinet at all times. I also paired this with a chicken dish and it was perfect together as well. With summer coming, this wine is going to be extremely popular around my house. With lots of cookouts to attend as well as planning, this wine is going to be the perfect companion. It's light, crisp flavors make it the perfect summer wine. I highly recommend it!

Think green, with a faint touch of sweet. Drink it again, and again, all season long, if you love dry white wines. There is no aftertaste, just a delightful aroma of lime, white flowers and herbs. The grapes for this Souverain Sauvignon Blanc are pressed in full clusters to better provide a delicate yield. With a mixture of the Sauvignon Blanc grape and the Semillon, the balance gives a redolent nose, and a distinctive flavor. I'm thinking steamed mussels, or a frito mixto a la italien as a good pairing. There is a mineral and fruit complexity that brings a rich finish and a subtle hint of the citrus. Passion and flavor, with the grapes carefully chosen at the height of Alexander perfection, gives Souverain a history of lovingly tended vines. Not far from the Pacific Coast (30 miles), with the Russian river meandering through the valley, Souverain prides itself on expression.
The lovely yellow color of the Sauvignon Blanc is a feast for the eyes, and a joy on the palate.

2010 North Coast Sauvignon Blanc is a great way to kick off the warm summer weather. This beautiful bright yellow wine is a delight! I love how the wine sparkles in my glass under the sunlight. The amazing cool taste on my tongue makes me want to dance. Pop open the wine and enjoy the beautiful fresh aroma. You can taste the delicious fresh fruit taste. Pops of grapefruit and lime are present. This dry wine is nice and crisp on the palate. It is filled with not only fruit flavors but also those of flowers and herbs. It is a delightful wine to have with cheeses or just on its own. I love bringing this wine to the table when having guests over. Everyone loves it!
