Now that I can feel autumn's nip in the air, I have to get over the fact that summer is gone until next year. One way I try to do this is by focusing on all the great things that autumn has in store. One of the best parts about the fall is Halloween! It is right around the corner, and I have been looking for ways to get into the Halloween spirit! Scottish Ghosts by E. Ashley Rooney was exactly what I needed! Some may argue that Scotland has more ghosts than any part of the world. This book brings to life all the ghostly stories of Scotland's past. It really is a fascinating book that you will not be able to put down! I had no idea how interesting and scary Scotland's past was! Now that I have read the book, I want to get on a plane and experience it first hand!

Being Scottish, (yes, I have multiple tartans named for my family) it was fun to learn more about the truly unique and mysterious Scotland. “Scottish Ghosts” from Schiffer is a great read introducing you to dozens of ghost myths. I loved learning about historic tales which led to grueling deaths, wars and more. With each mystifying story, you get sucked in to read more and more. The Haunting Room Chapter was one that made me wonder with a terrifying attic room at a boarding house. It sent chills up my spine. The book also shares Scottish Fairylike tales. The Earl of Mar’s Daughter what a romantic story and a good change-up from the other chapters. So catch up on some good folklore.

Pull up a campfire, and be prepared to rattle your bones. Sit, shiver, and peruse E. Ashley Rooney's : "Scottish Ghosts". The author leads us on the ghostly trail through Scottish castles and their environs for Schiffer, and wraps up a picturesque history of haunts. Presented in brief succession, each tale of the lost and the mysterious takes us through the Highlands, and the Lowlands of a country well known for it's many spirit sightings. Wandering grey ladies, hounds from Hell, all legends, or truth (for those who have seen, and believe) lend their histories to this capable book. It's the perfect paperback to have on hand for All Hallow's Eve readings. For history buffs, the origins of many a tale become clear in their provenance. Castles , familiar, and those not so well known, are cited by ghost. That is, each castle seems to have it's own population of sightings, and they each have a history. The wandering souls come home to roost in this handy book, and should inspire perfect Halloween moods for those in need of a few ghosties.

Scottish Ghosts by Ashley Rooney is here just in time for Halloween!! I love spooky stories. I espeically love stories about ghosts! I had no idea Scotland was so haunted. The stories in this book no doubt come to life. The history along with the stories blow you away. We get to learn about the many huanted castles and all of the creepy dungeons, tunnles, passsageways and more. Family feuds, curses, romaces, rivalries and revenge! This book has it all! Have a peek you honestly won't be able to put it down.

Halloween has to be one of my favorite holidays. I'm always up for a good ghost story every now and then. I know there is a lot of history when it comes to Scotland. Because of that history, I know there has to be many sites that many say are haunted. This book was such a quick and easy read, I couldn't put it down. Now I am determined to try to visit this country in the future. I want to visit many of the different places mentioned. My favorite section was the section where the Legends were told. I would love to come across the Phantom Trumpeter, but wouldn't want to come across the Black Dog. I could read this book over and over. I know of a few friends who love Halloween and a good ghost story as much as I do and I've told them they need to go buy this book. I highly recommend it!
