It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Charlie, the famous brand ambassador of Macallan!  Get excited for his upcoming interview- Gerard Butler is not the only fun guy to come out of Scotland...Everyone that is anyone knows that this is the brand that killed it at the recent Scotch auction at Bonhams:
And we attended the preview here:
Know that you can get the bottle that we recommend here for far less than that auction level.
Also, do not miss Whiskey Live by our friend Dave Sweet:
Typically, many people drink scotch as their devoted hibernation drink to bring cheer to their dreaded winter.  However, you need to know that Scotch is not just for winter anymore.  Shouldn't your summer be equally cheerful?  We think so.
Macallan is an old, historic brand with a proven record of being among the best.
We have simple taste: we only like the best.
It is even a whole 19 years older than MPS (1843) not that any Ancients were fully aware of Macallan when they were prepping.  The box is indeed beautiful which gets you even more excited to drink it.
Peel of the label, and get out your Whiskey Tot:
That's the one we prefer.  You can't drink such fine scotch out of any old glass, silly!  Use the proper glass.
Smell the cork and you will be even more thrilled to discover the depths of scotch in the summer- Charlie tells us:
"The Macallan Fine Oak range, triple cask matured using both American and Spanish oak casks, which lives a lighter more refreshing style to Macallan, perfect for the warmer summer months. It also suits the bourbon drinker and people new to single malts palate, due to the fresh fruit and honey/vanilla notes."

THE MACALLAN’S SIX PILLARS

Spiritual Home:

The Macallan distillery is proudly watched over by Easter Elchies House, the spiritual Home of The Macallan. Built in 1700, this Jacobean manor house looks out across the hills, fields and rivers that provide the backdrop and indeed some of the fundamental ingredients for The Macallan.

Curiously Small Stills:

Our curiously small stills are the smallest on Speyside. Their unique size and shape ensure the distilling spirit has maximum contact with the copper, helping to concentrate the 'new make' spirit and deliver rich, fruity, full bodied flavors.

The Finest Cut:

The 'cut' is the amount of distilled spirit collected from the stills. The Macallan takes one of the finest 'cuts' of any distillery in Scotland; only the best of the best, typically just 16%, is selected to fill our casks. This distinctly robust 'new make' spirit is the starting point for all Macallan

Exceptional Oak Casks

Under the guidance of Stuart MacPherson, The Macallan Master of Wood, every single cask is either hand-crafted or hand-picked. It is this unfaltering obsession with selecting exceptional oak casks that delivers the wonderful variety of color, aroma and flavor throughout The Macallan range.

Natural Color:

Natural Color is something The Macallan insists upon. It is the interaction of spirit and wood alone which delivers the rich variety of color, aroma and taste evident throughout the range.

Peerless Spirit:

The Macallan Master Whisky Maker, Bob Dalgarno, keeps a watchful eye on the slumbering casks, selecting the moment when each cask is at the peak of maturity and perfect for bottling. It is this mastery of spirit and wood that creates The Macallan…the world's most precious whisky.

The Macallan Fine Oak

Launched in 2004, The Macallan Fine Oak range introduced a style of The Macallan underpinned by a triple cask combination of Spanish oak sherry casks, American oak sherry casks and American oak barrels, seasoned with premium bourbon whiskey.

The Macallan is the only distiller building fresh oak sherry casks from American oak to impart a lighter color, with sweet, soft aromas and flavors of vanilla and fresh fruits. The oak is sawn and air-dried in Kentucky, before being shipped to southern Spain and built into casks by the coopers of Vasyma Cooperage in Jerez. These casks are then also seasoned in the same manner as the Spanish oak before being shipped to The Macallan for filling with ‘new make’ spirit.

The American oak bourbon barrels are imported from premium bourbon whiskey distillers and then filled with The Macallan ‘new make’ spirit.

The addition of American oak bourbon seasoned barrels imparts more pronounced aromas and flavors of coconut and light citrus fruits but still with the lighter color and sweetness associated with American oak. This triple cask combination at the heart of The Macallan Fine Oak gives a more complex style. The character of the ‘new make’ spirit and American oak is more prominent in the younger ages, developing more pronounced Spanish oak character in the older ages. All ages retain the smooth richness and mouth-feel characteristic of all The Macallan. The Macallan Fine Oak is available from 10 years old to 30 years.
About The Macallan:
Founded in 1824, The Macallan is one of the worlds most admired and awarded single malt whiskies. The reputation of The Macallan is based on a product of outstanding quality and distinctive character, founded upon a set of guiding principles, the Six Pillars. An obsession with quality has been the hallmark of The Macallan since it’s founding by Alexander Reid on a plateau above the river Spey in north-east Scotland. The distillery is surrounded by a 150 hectare estate, with Easter Elchies House, a Highland Manor built in 1700, at its heart. Barley unique to The Macallan is also grown on the estate.

Traditionally known for maturation in Spanish oak, sherry seasoned casks, The Macallan’s range of outstanding single malts includes: Sherry Oak, matured in Spanish oak casks seasoned with sherry; Fine Oak, matured both in sherry casks of Spanish and American oak and in American oak casks seasoned with bourbon; and the 1824 range, exclusive to Global Travel Retail. In addition, The Macallan is well known for its great range of vintage whiskies, dating back to 1926, and is considered the most sought after of all single malts among collectors and connoisseurs at auction.
