Whom You Know Congratulates their new President, Elizabeth Ann Stribling-Kivlan:

Amazing pizza cannot be found on every corner of New York, contrary to popular belief.  It is true that there is something special about the water here, and that makes pizza and bagels in general to-die-for here, but run-of-the-mill anything is not what we are interested in of course.  We are interested in the best.  So, to that end, we took a hop, skip and a jump all the way downtown to Bleecker Street Pizza.  And guess who is now the pizza monster!

There she is with Tony Salihaj, co-owner of the venue with his sister  Diana and brother-in-law, Douglas Green, who started the spot in 2004 based on his grandma, Nonna Maria's recipe from Tuscany.  Nonna Maria must have been one smart lady.  When we arrived we tried a slice of Nonna Maria, above.  It is their signature slice from their old family recipe.  Thin crust with fresh mozzarella, homemade marinara sauce, the finest parmesean (and they do mean finest it is something special) and fresh basil combine into a singular sensation that you will devour in a few bites.  The pizza monster is holding the pizza umbrella by Inedible Art:
Stay tuned, we will be telling you more about the umbrella.  Peachy did not eat that though it looks very good.
Tony sipped some red wine with us when we got there and also convinced Peachy to try a piece of the Grandma pizza, above.  This had a thicker crust and a chunkier presentation that was equally laudable.  By the way if you are into celebrity sightings, this place has that too-Steven Tyler (we love Aerosmith) is on the wall among numerous others and we'd believe he'd tell you to walk this way for Terrific Takeout as well.  You can also see quite a few on their website and of course we were thrilled to see our buddy old pal our one friend from Notre Dame Regis has been there.
The talents of Bleeker Street pizza extend to the chicken wings, presented with both ranch and blue cheese dressing.  Tony suggested them and though they are not an item we order often, we can attest to their tastiness.
They are clearly also photogenic and asked nicely for a close-up.

We think a green salad with every meal is a great strategy for health, and it is even better when it is as delicious as it is at Bleecker Street Pizza.  The House Salad is large enough for two and they paid attention to directions and put the dressing on the side.  Mixed baby greens, sun-dried tomatoes, cucumbers, red and green peppers, tomatoes, olives and Bermuda onions partake in a symphony of nutrition that we think Mayor Bloomberg would approve of.  Boy we're going to miss him.
As Peachy cannot say no to good pizza, she also split a plain slice with Tony which was another mouthwatering delight in the Bleecker Street Pizza hit parade.

Finally, the piece de resistance was of course the pizza we ordered.  What Peachy likes on her pizza is green peppers, onions, mushrooms and pepperoni so that's how they made it, thank you Bleecker Street pizza.  It was an excellent execution, done just right not over or undercooked.  It was so fresh and wonderful we were tempted to eat it all (but not all at once!).
Every bite was pure quality from ingredient to sauce to cheese.  Remember that Parmesean is ordered special here and is much better than an average spot.  It is clear to us that this pizza is a step above, and if you are downtown you should check it out.
Bleecker Street Pizza is Terrific Takeout!
