History of Whom You Know: Whom You Know Celebrates Our Fifth Birthday with Chateau du Trignon Plan de Dieu Cotes du Rhone villages Imported by David Milligan Selections #4 in the Hit Parade of Five Fine French Wines for Five Fantastic Years!

Whom You Know turned 5 in January and our birthday continues!  David Milligan Selections has brilliantly chosen to celebrate each year with a different fine French wine and we hope that we age as well as the wine!
Perhaps it will be the plan of God?  Read on....

Chateau du Trignon

The wine estate of Chateau du Trignon was acquired in 1895 by Joseph Roux. In 2006 his descendant, Pascal Roux, a passionate winemaker, who had kept the quality of the wine at the highest levels, sold the vineyard to esteemed Rhone Valley winemaker, Jerome Quiot, who also owns and runs Domaine du Vieux Lazaret in Chateauneuf du Pape and Domaine Houchart in Provence. The wines are made from 150 acres of vines in Six villages: Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Rasteau, Sablet, Plan de Dieu and Beaumes de Venise.

–Grenache and Syrah –

One of the least well known but most intriguing areas of the Southern Rhone

Rich in notes of garrigue and dense berries and this is among the best in our taste-we love the robust boldness. It is a complex, fleshy wine.  We loved it with steak frites and found it equally smashing during cocktail hour.

Alex says on Facebook: My father started this delightful company back in 1995. Since then we have striven to bring you delicious, affordable, terroir driven wines.

David Milligan founded David Milligan Selections in 1995 with the objective of finding great wines from top estates and creating exceptional values for the consumer.

This has been achieved by creating a low overhead operation selling directly on behalf of the estates to importing wholesalers around the country and thus eliminating the National Importer mark up.

Drawing on his many years of experience in the United States and in Europe where he was wine buyer for one of the largest wine companies, he has assembled a range of important estates in the main regions of France.

In selecting these wines he agrees with the consumer preference for clean, well made wines with emphasis on the natural fruit. He believes that this allows the true character of the soil in each region to express itself. Experts agree that his selections are classic expressions of each appellation. In 2006 he was joined by his son Alexander who spent two years working at Sherry-Lehmann, the prestigious New York retailer.
