Spice Up Your Life with Alaska Pure Sitka Spruce Tip Flake Sea Salt Say the Peachy's Pantry Panelists!

After having the same old popcorn over and over again, I wanted to try something different. I decided to replace the regular salt I normally use with Alaska Pure Sitka Spruce Tip Flake Sea Salt. The Sitka Spruce tree is native to the American Northwest. The tips of these trees are infused into the salt, giving it a delightful herbal flavor. My popcorn was brought to life with a great new taste!
Gathered by artisanal methodology way up in Alaska, the clean sea water produces a salt that will astound your palate. It's a hollow flake, that somehow permits flavor to double when you use it. The Alaska Pure Sea Salt Company doubles the possibilities with flavors, too. Their Spruce Tip Flake Salt adds a hint of the wild to any dish. Try it with chicken, fish, sauerkraut ( instead of just juniper), for a new world of flavor. Use this salt sparingly, as the shape really does make it go further.
Salt is something that everyone likes, adding a great kick to every dish. I love Alaska Pure Sea Salt Co. Their amazing salt comes in many flavors, including Spruce. Yes, I said Spruce, this great pure salt comes from Alaska's gulf coast and the Sitka Spruce. The hand picked flavor of spruce comes through in every flake. It can be used on fish, chicken and even popcorn.
When I hear the word "spruce," I instantly think of Christmas trees. However, thanks to Alaska Pure Sea Salt, I'm now going to think of something new when I hear that word! The Alaska Pure Sea Salt Sitka Spruce Tip Flake Salt takes sea salt to a whole new level! Created by infusing pure sea salt with the flavor handpicked, fresh, green, spring spruce tips, the salt has a distinct pine-y flavor, with a hint of citrus. It can be used to season all kinds of meat dishes, as well as salads, vegetables, and more! I sprinkled a small amount over popcorn, and was amazed at how just a little bit of the spruce sea salt could turn an everyday snack into something exciting and delicious! Two thumbs up!

Alaska Pure Sea Salt is handcrafted in Sitka, Alaska using sea water from the Gulf of Alaska - a pristine source second to none. Our salt making process took seven years to perfect. We enlisted the advice of three James Beard Award winning chefs before bringing it to market. The light delicate texture of the pyramidal flake brings a pleasing crunch when added to food and the flavor is gentle, not assertive. Alaska Pure Sea Salt finishes cleanly on the palate with absolutely no metallic or bitter aftertaste. Using Alaska waters to make the first finishing flake salt from the Americas makes our salt unique, but the flavor, texture, quality and consistency of Alaska Pure Sea Salt makes it outstanding.

Alaska Pure Alder Smoked Sea Salt is smoked over a natural Alder wood fire. Alder is the indigenous hardwood of the Pacific Northwest and it's smoke has been used to preserve salmon for thousands of years. We created this salt to pair with salmon and were pleased to find that it also enhances poultry, meats, vegetables and sweets. The smoked flavor speaks of a sense of place without making you feel like you've eaten a campfire.

Alaska Pure Wild Blueberry Sea Salt is a product of the careful blending of wild handpicked blueberries from the forests of Alaska with our Original Sitka Flake salt. It brightens up almost all desserts from chocolate tortes to fruit sorbet and adds a fun punch of color. Try with salads, fruit and wild game such as duck or venison

Sitka Spruce Tip Flake Sea Salt is a labor of love. It is created with Alaska Pure Sea Salt and the handpicked Spring tips of the Sitka Spruce Tree. We worked for over two years on the proper way to infuse our salt with Spruce tips. Maintaining the fresh, herbal flavor of the tips while using only salt as a preservative was paramount. Many failed experimental batches later, we know that the struggle was worthwhile. Spruce Tip Salt has a bright, citrusy, herbal flavor that pairs with fruit, and is a perfect rub for roast turkey and chicken. It’s great on seafood, pork and popcorn.

Alaska Pure Sea Salt Co. started early one morning in April of 2000 in a remote Alaska cabin. While celebrating our first anniversary, we woke to find salt forming on the surface of a pan of sea water we’d left on the wood stove. We were intrigued.

Each spring, we return to the same cabin to celebrate the last year and plan for the next. One evening, while sitting by the campfire, we realized we could not resist this discovery and had to create more salt. We were committed.

Back home in Sitka, Alaska, we spent years lugging jugs of sea water up a steep harbor ramp. We survived backaches, headaches, and probably could have used some marriage counseling. We experimented, tested, and refined batch after batch. Finally, we created the right balance of science and artisanship that resulted in the perfect flake salt.

It didn’t take long to gain the support of some of the nation’s best chefs. We felt like proud beaming parents. Now, we are even more proud to offer it to you.

Alaska Pure Sea Salt is created with a passion for great food, wild places, the pristine Alaska waters and, of course, each other. We hope you enjoy our salt with as much enthusiasm and we have producing it.
