Janice in Driftwood Cashmere Sweater by 27 Miles Malibu Recommended by Whom You Know! We are Pleased to Meet Katharine Marinaro at Coterie and Kick Off Coverage of this California Brand

Normally, we would not associate sweaters with California, but now that we've met Katharine Marinaro, we do. (and we like that she spells it the Hepburn way.)  Our initial reaction to the Janice in Driftwood is that it's incredibly soft, and a great option for a casual kick-back kind of sweater for the upcoming fall weather.  At first you might think they've got quite long arms in Malibu, but upon further inspection you can see that there are thumb holes in the long, long sleeves and that's the style.  These run big and yes Peachy Deegan is rather petite and small (well for the most part, considering our culinary endeavors)-and the small is a bit long on her but we like it as it looks good with black leggings or jeans.  We just met Katharine and we've tested the slimming sweater in some air conditioning and approve, so we're going to give her a chance for a formal review - stay tuned.  Perhaps we'll be adding a new California brand to our list!  We surmise that Katharine knows that East Coast girls are hip and everyone loves the styles they wear...
A picturesque beachfront city in northwestern Los Angeles, 27 Miles refers to the original length of Malibu, California before it was incorporated. The scenic community, which lines the famed Pacific Coast Highway, is not only home to 27 Miles designer, Katharine Marinaro and her family but it also inspired the lifestyle collection, which mixes bohemian beachy basics with eclectic, edgy designs.

Katharine, and her partners, Ernie and Emily Vallorano, who together have over 30 years experience working in fashion and fashion accessory design and manufacturing, launched 27 Miles Malibu in August of 2012. Recognizing a void in the market, the trend-setting trio set out to design a diverse lifestyle collection for confident women in search of stylish basics and curve complementing separates with a modern edge. An accomplished designer, Katharine, provides the creative direction, while her partners’ team sources the fabrics and manufacture the collection at their family-owned facility, making it possible to offer high-quality, exceptionally crafted designs that are affordable.

The quaint city by the shore does not just function as a muse for the collection, many of the style names pay tribute to iconic locales within Malibu city limits. 27 Miles Malibu’s laid-back luxe sensibility blends tones and textures with asymmetrical silhouettes and unexpected details that make the collection distinctive. Each design allows a woman to showcase her unique sense of style, while offering wearable, expertly crafted pieces that transition from season to season.
