The Latin Recording Academy® received two Tecla Awards for its social campaign, the 15th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards® — Social Media Celebration; Best Social Media Marketing Campaign of the Year and Top Latino Marketing Pro Doing Hispanic Media. The first annual Tecla Awards were held Monday, March 16 during Hispanicize, the largest U.S. Hispanic marketing, media and entertainment industries event in the nation. The awards were created to showcase the increasingly sophisticated and impressive work that Latino bloggers, microbloggers, journalists, brands, and agencies are executing in the multicultural digital space. A panel comprised of 30 judges from major U.S. Hispanic brands, agencies and digital influencers selected the winners in 26 categories.

"It is an honor to receive these two very important awards highlighting our social media campaign efforts and strategies that took place over the course of our milestone 15th anniversary," said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. "I would like to extend an immense thank you to all the artists who participated, congratulate the members of our outstanding team, and I greatly appreciate the recognition from Hispanicize."

The concept for this year's social campaign was simple: pair the passion of music lovers with the power of social media. The multi-faceted celebration launched in September with a reinvention of the Latin GRAMMY nominations announcement, which incorporated video and social elements from artists, followed by in-depth social media coverage of related events such as the Latin GRAMMY Acoustic Sessions and Latin GRAMMY Street Parties. Days before the 15th anniversary telecast, with a global footprint already established on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter, the Latin GRAMMYs continued campaigning by launching Facebook Chats with nominated artists throughout multiple countries, installing a Vine 360 camera on its red carpet and publishing behind-the-scenes content on LatinGRAMMY.com, all which led to the organization becoming a trending topic not only in major U.S. cities but in several Latin American countries and Spain. The Academy's official Twitter account surpassed the 2 million followers (source: Twitter), the highest following of any awards show (as of Nov. 20, 2014 the date of the 15th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards telecast). Accomplishing its goal, the seasonal campaign brought together fans and artists to celebrate music, amplified The Latin Academy's celebration message and delivered a staggering 11 billion plus impressions (source: Blanco-Lorenz) .
