Of course, we personally believe and know that great things come in small packages, and some of the very best Manhattan restaurants are small venues, like Mover and Shaker Bill Knapp's Table D'Hote.  Please meet Angela and her uber-authentic Montana Table, one of the hottest new venues to grace Manhattan's dining scene of quality (not trendiness, though maybe it is also trendy.  We are not judges of that.) Open since May 4, 2016, Angela's Montana Table deserves a round of applause for its delicious American cuisine with zero pretense and complete experience.  We knew we would love it because:
1. Even the music was great from The Eagles to Adele and we are pickiest most about sound
2. Obviously, anything boys can do, girls can do better, just ask Libba or Elizabeth Ann
3. From the tables to the bathroom everything is sparkling clean
4. Angela is detail-oriented-delicious right down to the pink peppercorn thyme butter (John-Claude there is a pink butter for you) and fresh bread
Going to Angela's Montana Table is like a vacation on a cattle ranch on the Upper East side.
We bet you didn't know you could do that!
Especially in summer, we love to see a really competitive salad section of the menu.  There are four main salad choices at Angela's Montana Table, all of which can be modified by adding grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, grilled steak and seared tuna.
We stick to simplicity mostly, especially on a first review and how can you go wrong with a Baby Arugula salad?  You absolutely cannot when brilliant roasted beets, pistachios and orange are part of the party with the Baby Arugula by Fresh Origins!  Angela takes a lot of care to make sure her guests are happy and normally, this comes with goat cheese, but if you do not like goat cheese like Ms. Picky here, she will hold it.  This comes with a lovely honey-mustard dijon lemon thyme dressing.  Angela is creative and interesting to the high point of delicious without overdoing it and killing the lining of our stomach, which does happen at places that try too hard to be creative with far less imagination and understanding of how flavors mix well.
You absolutely have to try the smoked trout spread: it is divine.
You'll spread the spectacular chunky dill horseradish cream cheese that joins the fresh troutiness of the concoction onto toasted everything bagel chips.  We wish we were eating this right now!  We cannot wait to eat it again.
The Caesar Salad is smashing with garlic croutons and asiago cheese: this cheese has outstanding flavor!  The bite-sized chicken pieces are juicy and tender and the crisp of the lettuce is entirely satisfying.
The Grass Fed Bison Burger is simply the best burger we have had this summer in Manhattan!  We have had some amazing burgers, but this one is truly extraordinary and it had a very short happy life and is long gone in Peachy's stomach.  Angela tells us that Bison is low in fat compared to beef and we felt there was zero flavor sacrifice.  There is more protein and non-saturated fat we understand, and the fries are just terrific.  The burger is joined by aged cheddar, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and flavorful horseradish cream.
The bison meat is from Randers Best in Montana and of course, Angela herself is from Montana, born and raised on a cattle ranch.  She is the real deal.  Ted Turner, you'd better watch out; Angela is talented! (We understand Ted has a Montana Grill in Rockefeller Center.  We do not know him, yet but maybe these Montana people should meet!)
Another hit entree are the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes.  The crab swims down from Maine, and it joins Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, Baby Green beans and roasted red pepper sauce to make it a firework conclusion.
Angela's Montana Table is Terrific Takeout!
We can't wait to tell you about what she does next.
Now Peachy has to find the other 49 states in Manhattan...

P.S. We like license plates as you know from Cruising Peachy...
Go make friends with the Bison Burger!
