All pizza is not the same.
Some is superior.
We were already having quite the exciting day before we met Frank, but his pizza trumped our day.  We love love love love love pizza (well, we love EXCELLENT pizza not all pizza) and think pizza is a food group.  With Sicilian heritage, Frank LaPuma is the proud owner of several pizza endeavors, and so far this is the first to be featured.  Also owned by Sasha Berg, Garlic was first featured on Whom You Know in 2014 when we worked with Sasha:
and it even featured again in Chandelier Peachy:
Obviously, chandeliers make anything taste even better, particularly because of the light they shed on it.  We hate dark environments and always want to see our food; Peachy is anti-candlelight and pro-electricity.
Frank LaPuma began his illustrated pizza career at Ray's Pizza from 1982-1983 and in 1988, he opened Frank's Pizza in the Bronx, which he sold in 1998.  He owns three other venues in Manhattan which we hope to tell you about; we have not been to any of them yet.  If you are in Pennsylvania, you know he is also quite popular there.
Frank absolutely has the right personality to be in the restaurant business and his devotion to excellence and finding great employees was clear in our inaugural meeting.  We cannot command you to look fun in the picture; you either are fun or you are not.  Frank is also professional as you can see from the other pictures.
Frank is the original owner of Garlic Pizza and it opened in 2010.
We love that he is so devoted to freshness that he does NOT OWN A FREEZER.  Nothing is frozen at Garlic.  Everything is prepared daily and served daily.  If you are looking for Frozen, we suggest watching the Disney movie.
Sauce and pizza dough is made daily the night before.
The green salad we chose was the classic Antipasto: Ham, Salami and Provolone arrive in style in smart spirals joined by peppers, green olives, carrots and lettuce.  We can attest to its supreme freshness.  They listened and put the dressing on the side for Ms. Pretty Picky.
The celebration of Chicken Parm is practically a religious experience for Peachy Deegan.  You could probably retire if you had a dollar for every time she mentioned her fond memories of it at Boston College's lower dining hall.  The food at BC was just as good as many Manhattan restaurants.
At Garlic they call the grinders Heroes because we are in New York but people in Connecticut call them grinders (like Peachy).  The roll this comes on is from Nunzio in the Bronx and it is fantastically fluffy and exactly the kind of roll we love.  We never want to see chicken parm on flat bread.  Peachy even likes her Garlic Naan fluffy at Indian restaurants.  The marinara was perfection with the perfectly pounded chicken and we of course are in love with mozzarella forever.  This mozzarella was exactly as it should be and in a generous proportion.
The pasta we chose was the Penne alla Vodka, because you know when she's not drinking it, she likes to eat it
This penne alla vodka boasts stellar consistency and is an absolute creamy dream!  It's not only a vision but also a reality of glorious al dente perfection.
The appetizer we chose was simple and delicious: Bruschetta with roasted peppers.
We love that they are aggressive with the vegetables as everyone always needs to eat more vegetables and Garlic even makes vegetables delicious like these majestically roasted peppers.  This yields a brilliant crunch when you bite into it and you'll be entirely happy.

Of course, the piece de resistance here is the pizza, which is just amazing.
We chose to add spinach, tomatoes and obviously fresh garlic (we love it!) and there's a great selection of toppings by the pie as well as about a dozen versions of Garlic's Grandma and Pizza.  The crust is crisp and of course fresh, the pizza holds up the ingredients, the sauce is delicious and the cheese is terrific.
And yes Frank, Peachy does like Tiramisu and yours is divine!
Bravo Garlic Pizza we look forward to seeing what you do next.
