Two weeks ago the Somnium Wine team took part in the Napa Valley Vintners’ 38th annual Auction Napa Valley charity wine event. Following the Indianapolis 500, the last race of her motorsports career, Danica Patrick traveled to Napa to join us for the festivities.

“It was so cool to finally be able to attend Auction Napa Valley,” Danica said. “Now that my racing career is done, I’m excited to spend more timing focusing on what I used to consider my ‘side hustles’ and go to amazing wine events like this one.”

Altogether, $13.6 million was raised over the couse of the three-day affair, which included vintner welcome parties, the Napa Valley Barrel Auction, vintner-hosted dinners and culminated with the Live Auction Celebration at Meadowood Napa Valley on Saturday night. The event benefits local nonprofits that focus on community health and children’s education, and since its inception, Auction Napa Valley has raised $180 million for Napa non-profits.

While Danica experienced Auction Napa Valley for the first time, she was also a part of her first live auction lot as Somnium Wine partnered with Amizetta Estates and Gamble Family Vineyards on a collaborative vintner lot. The luxurious package featured a three-night stay at the Amizetta Farmhouse and three days of activities, including a ride around the 12-turn Sonoma Raceway road course with Danica and live performances by country music sensations Lucas Hoge and Honey County. The auction lot winner will also receive a private, guided wine tasting seminar with Master Sommelier Matt Stamp and will indulge in sit-down dinners alongside Danica, Tom Gamble, Eddie Clark, Hoge and the members of Honey County. The package also featured wines from Amizetta Estate, Gamble Family Vineyards and Somnium Wine.

Despite being the new kid on the auction block, pun intended, Somnium Wine’s collaborative vintner lot ended up being one of the top-10 live auction lots on Saturday night as it went for an impressive $300,000.

“I thought owning my own winery was something that would just be a dream, but it became a reality,” said Danica. “Getting to participate in events like Auction Napa Valley and see the passion, excitement and generosity that abounds (in Napa Valley) is inspiring. The next chapter of my life is just beginning and I look forward to continuing to grow Somnium Wine.”
