#NewYorkNotes #WhomWeMiss @RecordingAcad #WhomYouKnow #GaltMacDermot RECORDING ACADEMY™ STATEMENT RE: GALT MACDERMOT

Three-time GRAMMY® winner Galt MacDermot was a highly regarded composer best-known for co-writing the hit Broadway musical, "Hair." He earned five GRAMMY nominations and won three GRAMMYs® for his composing—most notably for Best Score From An Original Cast Show Album for "Hair," at the 11th GRAMMY Awards®. MacDermot's music also made a significant impact on the hip-hop community, with notable artists such as Public Enemy, Faith Evans, and Busta Rhymes sampling his work. The music and theater communities have lost an extraordinary talent. MacDermot will be dearly missed, but his compositions will continue to influence music for years to come.
