#ReadThis #Calm the F*ck Down by #SarahKnight @LittleBrown @NoFucksGiven @NoFucksGivenGuides @MCSnugz

This post is dedicated to Peachy's mentor who thinks she is the Human Piranha from Liar's Poker.  She is.
If you don't know what HP says all the time, read the book.
Read it anyway; it is a masterpiece.

Is there anywhere in the world more suitable than Manhattan for a book like this?
Is there any day more suitable than MONDAY?!
We don't think so.
We like that everyone gives a f*ck and we look high and low for the people that give one the most and do the best job regardless of the discipline; we have done this for over a decade.  You must care to be written about.

However, you can go overboard and everything can get to you.
We do NOT write about that.
But, good thing Sarah Knight does because we know A LOT of people that need to calm down.
The title is obviously catchy and attracted our attention.  It seems like she has written about this topic four times before this, so we will have to backtrack and read those as well.

In short, this is about knowing what you can and cannot control and letting go of what you cannot, as it is counterproductive.  Easier said than done!

Sarah is funny as f*ck and that is the number one reason to read this, even if you don't need to calm down.  This book makes a great gift as it is highly entertaining.  We like her straight-shooter writing style and we like that she worries about the world wine output falling to record lows.  She had to leave New York to calm down, and she writes this from a tropical place that we think could possibly be more irritating as the pace and attitude does not sound in keeping with productivity and success, unless maybe you are the one writing this book as she is.

Knight excels in clarity, identifying Acknowledge, Accept and Address with clear strategy.  She even has a five-level shitstorm scale which is explained well.  We have never seen anyone so organized about anxiety!  She must love the movie Frozen as she identifies "Just f*cking let it go" as an option (p. 103).  Her mental toolkit and effective organization will absolutely calm you down, and we recommend reading this with a bottle of wine.

Bad things happen to good people--but you don't need to be caught without a plan. You can prepare for the unexpected, and manage your anxiety in an anxiety-riddled world.

In Calm the F*ck Down, bestselling author Sarah Knight offers a practical, customizable game plan for taking all bumps on the road of life in stride, no matter how big, small, absurd, or deeply real. From accidents to job loss, breakups to deaths in the family, or even the disappointment that your local grocery store has stopped carrying your favorite ice cream, a toolbox full of customizable tips, stories, and advice is your best armor against the crazy world we live in.

In a nerve-wracking era, it's harder than ever to keep yourself together, but Sarah shows you just how to handle everything life throws at you. Told with her trademark irreverence and warmth, Calm the F*ck Down is a call to action against paralyzing anxiety and an emotional insurance policy for an uncertain future.

Sarah Knight's first book, The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck, has been published in more than twenty languages, and her TEDx talk, "The Magic of Not Giving a F*ck," has more than four million views. All of the books in her No F*cks Given Guides series have been international bestsellers, including Get Your Sh*t Together, which was on the New York Times bestseller list for sixteen weeks. Her writing has also appeared in Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, Red, Refinery29, and elsewhere. After quitting her corporate job to pursue a freelance life, she moved from Brooklyn, New York, to the Dominican Republic, where she currently resides with her husband, two feral rescue cats, and a sh*tload of lizards.
