Whom You Know completely supports and endorses Oofos's dedication to Project Pink in Honor of our friend Duncan Finigan who put Oofos on our foot radar many years ago.  We loved her and this brand even before we knew she was a fellow Eagle (and you can see Peachy sing about it here.)  #EvertoExcel
This brand tells us:
Duncan Finigan
1960-2019

Since 1984, Duncan has been the chief architect behind many of the world’s most prolific consumer products companies’ branding and marketing strategies. Following her graduation from Boston College, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business with emphasis on computer sciences and marketing, she jointed Reebok International as a marketing intern. At that time, Reebok was a relative start-up company. Over the next 16 years as Reebok grew into a global footwear industry titan, she was tasked with leading strategic brand and marketing initiatives for nine different footwear categories. She ultimately ascended to the post of Vice President of the Performance division, where she was responsible for managing a $65 million marketing and promotional budget for the $750 million business group.

Duncan left Reebok in 2000 to service as Vice President, Brands at Atsco Footwear Group, a wholesaler and marketer of footwear in the United States founded in 1911. In this role, Duncan led Atsco’s introduction to the branded side of the footwear industry. In 2004, she went on to become General Manager of Wholesale at Stride Rite, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of high quality children’s footwear. And, prior to joining OOFOS in November 2011, she was Vice President of Dorel Industries’ furniture business unit and oversaw marketing, communications and graphics for the company’s juvenile division.

At OOFOS, Duncan was Global Head of Brand Management and Marketing, responsible for all external, internal and brand management communications activities for the recovery footwear company. She was the first employee OOFOS hired and was instrumental in the company’s launch and growth over eight years in business.

Outside of her many professional accomplishments, Duncan was a dedicated and loving wife to her husband, Tom, and a proud and supportive mother to four sons. Nothing brought Duncan joy quite like “her boys”.

Duncan was an avid athlete, skiing and running in college and going on to run in many marathons. After her diagnosis with breast cancer, she became very active in the Pan Mass Challenge, a two-day bike ride across Massachusetts, to raise funds for her beloved Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her team has since been renamed “Team Duncan” in her honor.

She will be remembered for her passion and zest for everything in her life—family, friends, OOFOS, Dana-Farber, her immense network of “breast cancer buddies”, the list goes on. We are proud to carry on her legacy through Project Pink.

“The cause that chose us”
At OOFOS, our mission is to make people feel better. Our line of recovery footwear does that for so many people—from runners, to fitness enthusiasts, to people looking for everyday comfort—and as a brand, we also aim to do that with our cause: Project Pink.

Project Pink is the cause that chose us. Our Brand Leader (and OOFOS’ first employee), Duncan Finigan, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in November 2014. When she told the OOFOS co-founders her news, they immediately said, “We want to do whatever we can to make you feel better. What can we do?” She told them what she learned from her doctor at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, that funding for research is what is holding researchers back from finding a cure. From there, Duncan worked closely with our founders to launch Project Pink: a way for OOFOS to raise money for breast cancer research through sales on our website.

Now, 3% of each and every pair sold on oofos.com goes directly towards the Dana-Farber Breast Cancer Research team to support new medical breakthroughs. To date, we’ve donated over $130,000 to breast cancer research and we won’t stop until there is a cure.

Sadly, on May 26, 2019 Duncan passed away after a courageous 4.5 year fight against breast cancer. And now is when Project Pink really starts.

If it were up to Duncan, every single person on the planet would know about Project Pink because she understood how many people world-wide are touched by breast cancer.

Click here to watch a short video of Duncan’s story and Project Pink. And in the world according to Peachy Deegan, you all need at least one pair of Oofos and we celebrate now in pink, with the GM building in the background.  If you know the story of the pink ribbon, it is here where Mover and Shaker Evelyn Lauder worked and where we met her.  She started the pink ribbon.
Obviously, paint your toes the color of your Oofos!
Saying that Oofos Recovery Footwear is a flip flop is like saying the upcoming Corvette C-8 is a car. To anyone that has worn them, it is obvious that they are so much more.  They relax and pamper your feet, massaging them as you walk.  Their thickness is unparalleled and the pink shade celebrates breast cancer research and also looks pretty good with your summer tan!
In honor of Duncan, shop Oofos now.

Oofos is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know and we are honored to honor her and celebrate Oofos's dedication to breast cancer research.

Brand Overview

• OOFOS was founded in 2011 by four veterans of the footwear industry who saw an unmet need for footwear that could help fitness enthusiasts and athletes recover from repeated workouts on hard, man-made surfaces. They worked with a foam chemist to develop a breakthrough foam material, what we call OOfoam™ technology. Our revolutionary OOfoam™ technology combined with a biomechanically engineered footbed to create OOFOS: footwear that can truly make your hard-working feet and body feel better. OOFOS is scientifically proven to help you recover faster.

• The biggest differentiator with OOFOS is the OOfoam™ technology found in each and every pair of our shoes.

• After two extensive research studies, we have learned that the OOfoam™ technology paired with our patented footbed design lessens the demand on your ankles and knees while walking, which results in less work for your other leg muscles. By making walking easier on the body, it reduces stress to allow your body to feel better. OOFOS are now scientifically proven to make people feel better.

• OOfoam™ offers 37% more impact absorption than EVA (traditional foam found in athletic shoes). This means that with each step, the impact that travels from your feet up through your body is reduced by more than a third! When you’re not exercising, OOFOS footwear with OOfoam™ technology gives your whole body the opportunity to relax, rebuild and recover.

• We learned through research and testing over 2.5 years that the impact-absorbing benefits of OOfoam™ technology are a tremendous asset for athletes and fitness enthusiasts in helping them recover post-workout. We also learned that OOFOS and OOfoam™ technology have made a significant impact in helping people who experience foot, ankle, knee and hip pain.

• Our mission is to “make yOO feel better”, because that is what our products do for other people, and that is what we try to do as a company in our interactions with people, too.

• OOFOS launched Project Pink in 2015. For each pair of OOFOS sold on oofos.com, we donate 3% directly to breast cancer research to support new medical breakthroughs. It’s a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, as OOFOS’ very first employee was diagnosed in 2014 with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC)- a non-curable and terminal condition. This is why OOFOS chose to put our philanthropic efforts towards having as much of an impact as possible to finding a cure and having MBC no longer be a terminal disease. Staying true to our brand mission, “make yOO feel better,” we envision Project Pink making breast cancer patients all over the world feel better. To date, we have proudly donated over $130,000 to the breast cancer research team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and will not stop until our collective efforts find a cure. Unfortunately, in May 2019, we lost Duncan after her courageous 4.5 year journey with breast cancer, and we are more committed than ever to ending breast cancer. Learn more here: Project Pink Video
