Owner John D'Orazio above and Colorist Thomas Morrissey below with Peachy Deegan
It's been suggested to us in this new normal world that we should cover the reopening of Manhattan.  Those that would suggest this have yet to grasp the thesis of Whom You Know which is and always has been and always will be EVER TO EXCEL.

Whom You Know is about the pursuit of excellence in every field that makes sense to chronicle (see over 200 columns in 11 plus years) and historically speaking, Manhattan has been an epicenter of talented, intelligent people that pursue excellence and we've had a front row seat and told you about it firsthand: never through a third party, much to the disappointment of the story pitchers out there that are being paid to sell something less than excellent.

This is going to continue, epidemic or no epidemic.
We chronicle the absolute truth, and never go back and edit articles and alter history.
We never edit pictures: you need to do a great job the first time.
Those that continue to be featured will be featured because they are excelling, not existing.
Covid-19 has obviously made it a lot harder for business owners everywhere to do business (and the governor and mayor of New York even more so...we have yet to visit a restaurant but you will be the first to know), and we've been recommending the excellence of legendary colorist Thomas Morrissey, who started his career coloring the hair of Marilyn Monroe, for ages now.  Thomas practices at the equally legendary John D'Orazio Salon on Madison and East 71st in the heart of the gorgeous Upper East Side aside Ralph Lauren.
John D'Orazio and his team led by Thomas Morrissey in color set the standard in haircolor excellence today.

In fact, the last normal day we had was when we last visited Thomas:

John D'Orazio has followed all safety protocols in place for salons, and though it was spotless before, the original antique floors were completely cleaned and restored, and the entire salon was painted and professionally cleaned as well.  John D'Orazio states: "Times are surreal and we will do our best to keep health and beauty our number one priority.  Everyone has an obligation to care for one another. Keep those masks on, and if you feel you have had contact with someone who was exposed to the virus, seek medical testing. The days of creating beauty in our industry shall continue, and as professionals we shall continue to give everyone around us the utmost attention. Healthy people are beautiful; let’s keep them healthy.  As you know, a great deal of my referrals are from medical doctors; some people, who have had the coronavirus, experienced high fever; because of this, they are now are experiencing hair loss. They should not panic--it is a temporary hair loss and it will grow back. Stay safe and healthy; we will take care of keeping you beautiful."

Peachy cannot verbalize how excited she was to get her hair done and she's never gone longer than this, like most of the world.  Thomas really had his work cut out for him and rose to the occasion beautifully!  When she arrived, as per usual Mary Hopkins was a bright light of sunshine greeting us and taking our temperature on our forehead from a distance.  Now Mary is also nurse!  Social distancing is the new normal here and clients now never share a room: Peachy had an entire room to herself.  After putting on a cape, Peachy sat in Thomas's chair and he brilliantly painted on her natural color where it should be growing in!  The single process was perfection and took years off Peachy in minutes.  Kati Jafine, below, did a beautiful blow-out after Peachy's hair was washed and conditioned.
We will let the pictures speak louder than words:
When the going gets tough, they say the tough go shopping (do that too: help the economy!) but also know that they say first that the cream rises to the top.  Only the very best are going to survive in these challenging times, and we can assure you Thomas, John and their team are absolutely the best in haircolor.  It's your first stop to feeling not merely normal, but EXTRAORDINARY.

Color by Thomas Morrissey of The John D'Orazio Salon continues to earn our Highest Recommendation.
