#NHLPeachy @NHL NHL Morning Skate – Nov. 29, 2021

* Dougie Hamilton scored a special goal and Andreas Johnsson (2-2—4) had four points as the Devils defeated the Flyers during Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Prudential Center.

* Alex Ovechkin scored his 19th goal of the season to help the Capitals hurdle the Hurricanes for first place in the NHL standings.

* The Maple Leafs downed the Ducks to improve to 7-0-0 in their last seven games as visitors and match the franchise record for longest road winning streak.

HAMILTON SCORES SPECIAL GOAL ON DEVILS’ HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHT
Dougie Hamilton (1-1—2) opened the scoring at 5:07 of the first period to help New Jersey defeat Philadelphia during Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Prudential Center. Hamilton used a custom stick Sunday in honor of Thea, a young girl he grew close with in Calgary who passed away after battling cancer.

OVECHKIN HELPS CAPITALS HURDLE HURRICANES FOR FIRST IN NHL STANDINGS
Alex Ovechkin scored the first of four Washington goals – his 10th tally since Nov. 1 (10-12—22 in 14 GP) – as the Capitals (14-3-5, 33 points) fended off a third-period comeback attempt by the Hurricanes (15-4-1, 31 points) to leapfrog them for first place in the League standings.

* Ovechkin, who closes out November when Washington faces Florida Tuesday, became the first NHL player with a double-digit goal total in a calendar month at age 36 or older since Jarome Iginla had 13 with Boston in March 2014 (13-4—17 in 17 GP).

* Ovechkin (19-18—37 in 22 GP) is one goal shy of becoming the seventh player in NHL history to reach 20 in 17 straight seasons. Only two players have hit the 20-goal mark in more than 17 consecutive campaigns: Gordie Howe (22 from 1949-50—1970-71) and Brendan Shanahan (19 from 1988-89—2007-08).
