#InauguralReview #SojournSocial #PeachysPicks #TerrificTakeout #RestaurantSibling to #Original #Sojourn

Bravo Sammy!
Meet a new Manhattan Restaurant: Sojourn Social, a sibling of the original Sojourn!  They are both in bien sur mes amis the best part of town: the Upper East Side.   Sojourn Social opened in early 2022 and though they tell us their strong suit is cocktails, of the three times we have ever visited any of the Sojourn locations it is by far the best culinary performance we have ever seen by them.  Also, Bri Mennona was a bright light of quality hospitality and is their best staff member we've ever met.
It's not who you know, it's Whom You Know and Instagram learned that the hard way yesterday...but it still looks like they are learning English.  We have known owner Sammy Musovic for quite a long time.  Sojourn was first featured way back in 2011:
and it was next featured in 2017 which is also when it was last featured:
Everyone knows Peachy is from the great State of Connecticut, the Constitution State, the best state in the Union only beating our second favorite state, Florida.  We think Manhattan should be its own state kind of like a principality.  In Connecticut you automatically get a green salad with an entree.  So, we always require a green salad plus in the last two years if you haven't realized the importance of good health we don't know what it would take!  There are two salad choices on the menu and we'd like to see more.  We chose the Roasted Beet Salad: Crispy Herb and Panko Crusted Goat Cheese, Grapefruit (amazing and we hope it was by our friends at our favorite SUNKIST) and watercress with horseradish dressing on the side.  We really loved the pistachios in it but we think their menu should reflect that as there are people with nut allergies.  Next time we are going to bring our hard alcohol expert for the complete cocktail experience along with our soft cheese expert to truly enjoy the majesty of this specific goat cheese which is one of the best we have ever seen.  For everyone that is a Crown Country Enthusiast you will be pleased to know that manager Stanton DuToit hails from South Africa.
Life is full of tough decisions.
Often we see either a shrimp cocktail or a lobster cocktail on menus.
We don't remember ever seeing both in one item.
At Sojourn Social you can have your cake and eat it too which is how we like to live and the Shrimp and Lobster Cocktail was fresh, delicious and in tandem terrific.  The roasted red pepper cocktail sauce, horseradish and lemon rounded out the perfectly classic experience.
The Grilled Skirt Steak was highly competitive with what we have seen in steakhouses.  Sourced from legend Pat LaFrieda this winner perfectly medium-rare as ordered by Ms. Pretty Picky was enhanced with chimichurri, french fries and grilled scallions.  We have never tried ginger ketchup before but it was also perfection.
We all love pasta.
We all love lobster.
AND WE ALL LOVE TRUFFLES.
Put them all together and you have the Lobster Truffle Macaroni and Cheese.  If you still haven't left your apartment you are totally crazy because you are missing out.  Gouda, Parmigiano, Aged Cheddar and Golden Panko round out this gastronomic high-five.
Pictures always speak louder than words.
Check out this lobster in it:
You excel like Sammy or you are not published on.
Of the three entrees we tried there was no weak link at all.
Squid Ink Tonnarelli boasts Crispy Calamari Shrimp (shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico) Fra Diavolo flash fried and expertly tossed into the sauce.  The spicy, succulent knockout flavor is a new Sojourn Social signature with a strong visual of black and red, oh so New York.  Peachy sipped a single glass of robust red cab from California.
Finally, under sides we tried the duck fried rice.  We love roast pork fried rice and also shrimp fried rice so we thought we might love this too, and we were correct.  Apologies to Daisy and Donald.  Duck Confit Fried rice even trumped the other varieties in its sophistication with honey glaze, toasted almonds and pecorino which all added depth.  We almost never review Chinese restaurants so seeing such a dish at an American venue like Sojourn Social was most welcome.

We look forward to seeing both Sojourn and Sojourn Social keeping up the good work!
