Vivian's favorite Peking Duck
Peachy's favorite ribs

Owners Vivian (daughter) and Nancy (mom)

It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW.
And we know Vivian and Nancy.
If you like Chinese food, you ought to know them too.
We love Chinese food and rarely feature it because we hardly find any we like in New York.  In fact for years, Peachy has only eaten Chinese Food in Florida and the place she goes there has yet to discover she's a food critic and we haven't published on any restaurant in Florida. Yet. The truth is until recently we have not found any Chinese food to get excited about in Manhattan until drumroll please, Our New Place.
We did not know the old place.
The Grand Opening with these new owners commenced in April 2022 and we hope we are the first to tell you about it.  You need to go straightaway!
Nancy hails from Shanghai, and Vivian was born here, and she suggested the Peking Duck.  Obviously Vivian was born to love this cuisine, but since we liked it, we think you will too.  Served with cucumber, scallion and steamed bun, this dazzling duck will quack its way into your appetite swimmingly.  The above picture is Peachy's arrangement...and of course you know Peachy is not Chinese and was most interested in tasting it over making it beautiful and you know that by now!  The succulent duck pairs nicely with these accompanying flavors.  It is made on premises.
Vivian and the Peking Duck, a signature dish
We bet you like to drink Grand Marnier.
But have you eaten it?
A highly creative signature dish also is the Grand Marnier Prawns with Walnuts...and Broccoli!  We like the visual arrangement and the prawns were of excellent quality.  Manager Johnny tells us this is his favorite dish.
Next meet the Dim Sum Platter!  We love the variety here and each item respectively excelled in its own right.  From noon going clockwise these are presented: Steamed Chicken, Siu Mai from Hong Kong pork and shrimp, Vegetable Dumplings (green) and Shrimp Dumplings.  We liked them all but the Shrimp were our favorite.  They all cannonballed into Peachy's Soy Sauce like it was their own private pool.
We have done this for so long it is pretty tough to serve Peachy something she has never had before, but Nancy and Vivian did on their first try too.  Meet Sauteed String Beans and Spring Bamboo!  We have seen Panda Bears eating bamboo but have never seen Peachy Deegans eating it...until now.  It is delicious!  And the dark flakes on top are Yibin Yacai, a fetching preserved vegetable.  We are all about vegetables (but not vegan) and another hit along this avenue is the below Crispy Cucumber with Scallion Pesto, uber-refreshing in this heat.
The best item in this review by ten million miles is one of Peachy's most favorite foods and there is no way she would ever share with anyone she loves them that much: BBQ Spare Ribs Chinese Style.  They are superlative at Our New Place from the quality of this little piggy to the size to the flavor to the overall presentation we cannot say enough.  We hope that they keep up the great work and that they are here to stay because these are some of the best ribs we have had in quite some time.  They are made in-house, like the best restaurants always do.
Unfortunately for you this screen is not scratch and sniff, but you do know where to go.
They are marinated beautifully and this should be at the top of your list.
Here's another dish we have never had: Steamed Shanghai Pork Bun.
You eat it with a soup spoon and you dip it in brown vinegar and ginger; it's frozen soup with a wonton wrapped around it.  Of course we liked the pork accent.
You cannot pass go and collect $200 without trying the amazing Pork Fried Rice at Our New Place!  Our second favorite obviously because it includes the coveted pork, this classic dish has quality ingredients that complement the once oinking wonder wonderfully!
Our New Place is Terrific Takeout and we cannot wait to see what they do next.
