#PeachyPicks Peachy Picks #Biricchino @BiricchinoNYC Since 1987 by #FouadAlsharif #MarcBuzzio and #PaulValetutti #260W29thSt #Manhattan
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Biricchino and we are thrilled to announce it has joined the ranks of Peachy's Picks.
It joins its mother company, Salumeria Biellese (stay tuned for their BIG BIRTHDAY they are 100 in 2025!!! That is their new apron that Peachy is wearing...). Biricchino was first featured in 2023, and earned an encore appearance in 2024 and the third time is a charm indeed says the Biricchina in residence here.
The Octopus remains the champion at Biricchino and you'll rejoice in its supreme majesty.
We were wowed by the spectacular Summer Specials which you should dive into. Octopus proves its versatility teaming up with Fennel in its charred glory to have a party with cherry tomatoes, olives and fresh herbs over arugula. For other people, it is tossed in a lemon-caper vinaigrette. For Ms. Uberpicky, they put it on the side. They know her by now.
The sleeper hit of the menu was the Grilled Chicken Panini WHICH IS THE BEST SANDWICH PEACHY HAS HAD ANYWHERE AT ALL THIS SUMMER.
Actually, this should not surprise you as their mother company has been in sandwiches for just 100 years so far. Spectacularly marinated grilled chicken breast barely saw the light of day in close proximity to Peachy Deegan as it was a revelation in pesto, tomato, fresh mozzarella and arugula all of the best quality on rustic Italian bread from Sullivan Street delivered fresh every day. We also adored the side salad. It was the first item that magically disappeared in totality and actions speak louder than words, readers! You need this Grilled Chicken Panini in your life.
Insalata di Mare with fresh scallops, shrimp, calamari and mussels is sublime and welcoming and the cold salad is from the regular menu. Note all photography is always unedited and the truth is Biricchino has been a winner since 1987 and here's why! If you are not a poisson lover, opt for the Summer Special Panzanella Salad of fresh tomato, cucumber and red onion having a party with crostini, basil and a light olive vinaigrette.
The pastas, all made on premises, are among the best you'll find in Manhattan and a credit to why Biricchino closes down inbetween lunch and dinner for a long list of private dining of Madison Square Garden performers that they are too classy to brag about. But we know they go there because we have seen it and done the research and we can reveal that Billy Joel likes the Chicken Milanese and Chicken Caesar! Peachy personally gravitates towards the Fettuccine Cacio e Pepe and its excellence in consistency we can confirm! Parmigiano, Black Pepper and White Truffle Oil will dance a waltz on your palate like no other. Our favorite vegetables are of course buried in cheese and pasta and you'll be thrilled to discover Manicotti Di Spinacci e Ricotta: spinach and ricotta manicotti doing the summer backstroke in premium proprietary tomato sauce of brilliantly reduced San Marzano tomatoes.
Veal Parmigiana is resplendent in its dual combination of marinara and mozzarella served over linguine al pomodoro and the flavor is truly commendable. This is a Summer Special.
We love pizza.
A lot of fine Italian restaurants have skills that supersede pizza, however, sometimes they have wonderful editions you should try and we can tell you this pizza is better than every other pizza we have had this summer, and this is the best pizza we have had since March with Edin, a chip off the old Dino block. Funghi e Cipolla of mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella, and herb tomato sauce is an amalgamation of talent with Lioni mozzarella, Baldor produce and the magic of Biricchino in the kitchen.
We detailed the history behind this amazing place in the first review, and allow us to shine the spotlight on Rigatoni Biricchino, a winning staple on the menu since 1987 and the only item that has been on the menu for the entire history Fouad tells us. All pasta is made fresh every day at Biricchino and this is a bestseller as sausage doesn't get any fresher than this and combined with proprietary spices and a red wine sauce, the formula for success has proven itself!
THEY MAKE THE PASTA.
THEY MAKE THE SAUSAGE.
THEY MAKE YOU HAPPY!
Finally, we bet you're wondering what Biricchino means...and of course we found out for you! It means brat, or naughty boy...and Biricchina is the female form! Oh what fun it is to dine at one of the coveted 60 seats so make one yours today.
