Robert Alexander, President of the Las Vegas Walk of Stars stated that, “the Las Vegas Walk of Stars is proud of its alliance with Star Vodka. It is the smoothest vodka I have ever tasted and a natural promotional tie-in with the Las Vegas Walk of Stars.

Peachy and Polo: Star Vodka Polo's Inaugural Season! Exclusive Interview with Mover and Shaker Charles Ferri on his Winning Team

Above: Charles Ferri,  Argentinean professional Mauricio Devirent, Michael Matz, Team Captain Yvonne Morabito, Steven Sands, Jeff Resnick

We first reviewed Star Vodka last August:

We liked it so much that Charles Ferri, Founder & CEO, became a Mover and Shaker immediately:

Since then you know we've mentioned Star Vodka a few times, and since Peachy loves sports and all things that go, she was quite happy to hear that Star Vodka is now sponsoring a Polo team.  Peachy loves Polo!  Here is an exclusive interview with Charles on this hot topic.
Above: Michael Matz
Peachy Deegan: How exciting to hear that Star Vodka is now sponsoring a Polo team! How did you get involved with this venture?
Charles Ferri: It was destiny! I was at an event and met Yvonne Morabito, the team Captain, and besides the fact that I was so impressed she is a woman captain in a men’s league, she mentioned the possibility of Star Vodka being able to sponsor her team. I quickly jumped at the opportunity knowing how much I love sports and especially horses and not to mention the demographic in the polo world truly fits with the Star Vodka clientele and image, and here we are.

Most Americans are not adequately informed about Polo. Aside from the fact that your team has a great sponsor what is exciting about the sport of Polo?
Speed speed and more speed!  Polo is a team sport played at very high speeds and significant levels of danger.  Most people fail to realize that it is a highly physical contact sport.  Meanwhile, there is a lot of strategy being employed at this rapid pace.  The horses are incredible athletes, running at close to 40 mph in full gallop, and they, as well as their riders, are conditioned to "bump" opposing players/horses at that speed, and to then stop and turn on a dime.  Another fascinating and exciting aspect of the sport is that amateurs play on the same teams as professionals, so that a recreational player might be playing with and against some of the best professional players in the world.  Polo is an international sport that enjoys a global, tight-knit community of players who generally know each other directly or indirectly.  Finally, of course, for anyone who's ever hit a tennis ball, golf ball or baseball, the thrill of cracking a ball at break speed on top of a 1,000 pound galloping thoroughbred takes some of the "Yahoo!" out of other sports.

Tell us about your first game this past weekend please.
We had a tough match against a very good team.  We were neck and neck until the very last chukkers when team Star Vodka pulled ahead by two goals and managed to hold the lead to win the game.

Who is on the team and what are their strengths?
The two mainstays of the Star Vodka team are Argentinean professional Mauricio Devirent, and Team Captain Yvonne Morabito.  For our first tournament, Michael Matz and Steven Sands are the other members of our team. Mauricio is the quarterback and power engine of the team, who places passes, hundreds of yards if necessary, and well positioned to his offensive players, Yvonne Morabito and Steven Sands.  Michael Matz is the other professional on the team who works with Mauricio on devising strategy and setting the plays to score.  Matz plays heartfully and intensely, and he played a very strong game last Sunday, making a spectacular run to goal through traffic, and scoring a very crucial goal at break speed.

When Peachy was on the air in Cork (Ireland) she used to go to the pub drinking before games with the players, which is opposite from what she did in America in terms of post game celebrations only. Do the polo players drink Star Vodka before the game for a competitive edge?
Haha there will be none of that until AFTER the game then they can drink Star all they want!

Team Captain Yvonne Morabito, Steven Sands

What is the schedule and how can our readers watch Star Vodka Polo?
We will keep you posted of Star Vodka Polo Team's Schedule of Matches throughout the summer Polo Season in the Hamptons.  Polo Enthusiasts are also welcome to come watch games and practices with advance notice regarding numbers in your party.

Who are the other sponsors?
Circa, Endeavor Capital, Palmers, Equuleus.

We understand the jerseys are quite sharp. Did Hunter Dixon design them?
I’m afraid they didn’t this year. The jerseys look amazing and we actually have had numerous people asking where they can buy them so we will see.

Do the horses enjoy Star Vodka after a victory?
I’m afraid Star Vodka was developed for Homo sapiens but maybe hay infused vodka could be an idea for them??

What else should we know about Star Vodka Polo?
The Star Vodka Polo Team just hosted a private chef’s tasting and Star cocktail party at the hotspot Georgica last week. Stay tuned for more Star Vodka Polo events this summer in the Hamptons!

The Fiftieth Time We Have Mentioned Star Vodka In A Post: Our Mover and Shaker Charles Ferri, CEO of Star Vodka, Updates Whom You Know Star Vodka Enthusiasts

Peachy Deegan really loves Star Vodka.  We haven't been counting every time we have mentioned it (actually we haven't been counting at all; we don't stop that is why we are approaching 3k posts) so out of curiosity we typed it in our dashboard and quite literally this post will be the 50th time we have mentioned it!  This was just a coincidence.  If you want to see for yourself put Star Vodka in the search bar at the top...

Last night Peachy Deegan became Cinderella and went to the Prince's Ball at Cipriani but to us it was really the Star Vodka ball.  Sure, there were three very nice Princes that we met but Star Vodka was the royal libation.  You will remember our friend Charles Ferri, (see his Mover and Shaker piece here) and Charles gave us an update on his fabulous brand.  Next week you will see the Nightlight piece...here is one of our most favorite Movers and Shakers below with our favorite vodka at the ball last night!
Charles answered some questions for the Whom You Know Star Vodka enthusiasts.

Peachy Deegan: Since we reviewed it last summer, what new developments are there with Star Vodka?
Charles Ferri: First and foremost, we are continuing to provide a super high quality product and we have stayed true to what we are and that is an American Luxury vodka, showcased at the finest parties, events, and locations.  We have started to grow and add new locations but very cautiously.  I feel its important to take our time and make sure we are doing the right thing for our customers and tastemakers.  We actually say "no" more than we say "yes" to adding stores and venues, people say I'm crazy but I truly believe that is how you build a strong brand with a loyal following and it doesn't hurt that we have the smoothest vodka in the world!

How did Star Vodka become involved with the Prince's Ball?
I was asked by Catherine Saxton of the Saxton Group, her PR company.  She is the Chairperson of the Prince's Ball and brought the whole team together.  The minute she started talking to me about the event I knew it was a perfect charity and event for Star Vodka and decided to personally get involved by agreeing to be a Co-chair on the event.  I am so pleased with being involved because it turned out to be one of the best events we have done so far.

What goes on behind the scenes in planning an event of this nature that most people would not realize?
haha - your looking for gossip and dirt huh? [No silly Charles you won't find that on Whom You Know!]  Well, let me just say if you have never been involved in an event of this size and nature you are in for a treat!  It is like one big roller coaster - highs and lows, conflicts, and disagreements, politics and heated arguments for months!  Yes, months! But what I realized as I went through this is we went through all these ups and downs because people really cared about throwing an incredible event for charity and making sure everyone that spent their hard earned money to come had the best time.  That is what these events are all about - having an amazing night in a great venue like Cipriani, drinking the best vodka in the world, and knowing that you are making a difference.  [The event really was absolutely spectacular; you will be reading about it in Nightlight next week.]

We liked your tuxedo.  Is Star Vodka going to develop an alliance with Versace now?
Thank you for noticing!  Actually I met Donatella Versace in London a few years ago and we were all going to a black tie event and I had nothing to wear!  She brought me into one of her stores and they fitted me with the most amazing tux right there and I went off to the event.  She is such a sweetheart and never asked for it back so lets keep it on the down low. haha
Did you arrive at Cipriani on Liberty Jet?  (just kidding).  In all seriousness, where is Star Vodka being sold now and where can we find it other than the store in the high 20's and Park other than when we fly on LJ?
Christian Deputy from Liberty Jet wanted to fly over Cipriani and have me parachute out but Bloomberg thought it was a bit over the top so we decided to cancel.  You can check out our website www.starvodka.net and see the locations we are currently in and always order online and we will ship Star Vodka directly to you.  We will be expanding to a bunch more in the next few months especially in the hamptons.  We will have a very big presence there this summer, we already have over 10 accounts in some of the finest liquor stores and restaurants out there so as long as we continue on that path I am happy to expand.

Were you pleased with the evening?
LOVED THE EVENT!!!

An artist painted during the evening, but we think the work would have been even more outstanding if she had a glass of Star Vodka in one hand!  Charles looks like he might bring her one...

This was one of the best events in Manhattan ever and if it happens again we would highly recommend it!  The venue, atmosphere, crowd, and overall event were outstanding, and of course the cause was the most worthwhile component of the evening. Proceeds benefitted The Lifeline Humanitarian Organization, founded by patron Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia in 1993. Lifeline continues to provide the most desperately needed humanitarian aid for Serbia’s medical facilities, handicapped children and orphans. Serbia has the largest refugee population in Europe. The country is also overwhelmed by both the highest incidence of breast cancer in Europe and the highest infant mortality rate. Lifeline is responsible for providing incubators to neonatal intensive care units throughout the country. For more event information, visit: www.princesball.org
