Terrific Takeout: China Spice

We do very few Asian restaurants because most of them pursue greasiness and not quality we've found.  However, we have found one we like, it is brand new, on the upper east side, and you should know about it! China Spice, located on 1588 York Avenue makes some of the best boneless spare ribs in town and they are even healthy about it-look at the carrots and celery that comes with it. Delightfully flavorful, you won't find these bathing in grease. China Spice has only been open about a week and it is a huge improvement over what was previously in this space. So, if you were there before you should be aware China Spice has new ownership and they have totally renovated and it looks great.  It is clean now.  Clean is obviously high on our list.
For our main course, we tried the basil and lemongrass seafood, which had quite a kick in it!  Prawn, crabmeat, scallops, fish fillet and squid joined some nice vegetables including some snappy pea pods which we loved.   Of course it was served with rice on the side, and the perfect end was a fortune cookie-just what you need to ring in the New Year.
Dessert is not yet available but it will be in the coming weeks.
