Harvest-Properties Whale Bowl Update JORDY DOUGLAS AND RAY NEUFELD TO SUIT UP IN WHALERS VS. BRUINS LEGENDS GAME AT OUTDOOR HARVEST-PROPERTIES.COM WHALE BOWL 2011 ON FEBRUARY 19TH

Whalers Sports and Entertainment announced today that former Hartford Whalers Jordy Douglas and Ray Neufeld will be among the ex-players featured in the Hartford Whalers legends vs. Boston Bruins legends game February 19, 2011 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

The legends game is part of the "Harvest-Properties.com Whale Bowl," the featured event of the two-week outdoor Whalers Hockey Fest spectacular at Rentschler Field that will feature numerous collegiate, high school, prep school and youth hockey games.  The legends game will face off at 4:00 PM on February 19 and will be followed by the outdoor AHL game between the Connecticut Whale and the Providence Bruins at 7:00 PM.

Neufeld, a forward from Winkler, Manitoba, was a fourth-round draft pick by the Whalers in the 1979 NHL draft and spent nine full seasons in the Hartford organization.  In 331 career games in a Whaler uniform, Neufeld scored 95 goals and added 131 assists for 226 points.  Those totals rank Neufeld ninth all-time in franchise history in goals, 11th in points and 13th in assists.  He also saw 15 games of action in a Bruin uniform in 1988-89 and 1989-90, and played three-and-a-half seasons with the Winnipeg Jets.  All told in his NHL career, Neufeld played 595 games, scoring 157 goals and adding 200 assists for 357 points.

Douglas is another Manitoba native, hailing from Winnipeg , and was also a forward.  He came to Hartford during the 1978-79 season, when the franchise still played in the World Hockey Association, and notched six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 51 games that year.  Douglas made the move to the NHL with the Whalers the next season and remained with the franchise until he was traded to the Minnesota North Stars October 1, 1982.  In 162 total NHL games with Hartford, Douglas totaled 56 goals and 40 assists for 96 points.  His overall NHL career included 268 NHL games with the Whalers, North Stars and Winnipeg Jets, in which Douglas scored 76 goals and added 62 assists for 138 points.
