Whom You Know Highly Recommended Vikings Series 1:
Vikings Season Two is no sophomore season-it's equally exciting and also Highly Recommended:

History Channel’s Vikings Season Two is a wonderful and engaging historical drama. I started in on Season Two, and – unlike many television series – was able to jump right in without missing a beat. Thankfully, I can go back and watch Season One online, which I’m dying to do! The series is inspired by historical tales and Norse lore. I’m not a historian, so I can’t officially tell you how true-to-life the series is, but it seems SO realistic. Real or not, the rendering of Viking life and the interwoven tales of allied and competing tribes is compelling, intriguing and draws you in from the first few minutes! The series follows Viking Ragnar Lothbrok and his tribe through personal trials and multiple raids (both on the “delivering” and “receiving” ends). It highlights the multiple dimensions of a man and a people who are both warriors and very caring and tender parents and tribespeople. As if all this wasn’t enough, I just learned that it was filmed in Ireland, so it has absolutely gorgeous scenery on top of everything else!!!

Tired of the same adventure theme? Get ready to perch on the edge of your seat while the second season of Vikings unfolds. The History channel has once again produced a series that places the viewer in the midst of the land of the Vikings, with breathtaking scenery and period settings that brought this civilization to life for me. We follow the saga of the rivalry between two brothers, Ragnar and Rollo. We see how Ragnar’s ambitions to conquer new lands affect his marriage to Lagertha, a strong shield-maiden, and his relationship with his son, Bjorn. There is of course the other woman, the children, and some interesting twists in living arrangements. The series showcases the politics of the era with battle scenes, negotiations and conspiracies, alliances of warriors that are formed and bonds that are broken. The roles of the Nordic gods in this society are an underlying theme. The Vikings sail to England in search of new land, and we watch the history of Christians and their invaders come alive. Each episode left me in suspense, wondering what will happen next. I highly recommend that you do not miss a single episode of Vikings, Season Two.

Line up a collection of hot and steamy guys and what do you have? The Chippendales? Oh, no, even better: The Vikings! Season two on the History Channel is about to begin. Warring brothers, blood, gore and guts take us to 796 A.D. Scandinavia. Be prepared for intensity and depth of discovery in this History Channel scripted production about the Vikings and their way. Be it filled with battles and basic confrontation, true. Tempered with relationships and evocative costuming, both the plot and the character development proceed with acute complexity. Bound by destiny and compelled to follow that destiny, Ragnar and his brother Rollo provide a non-formulaic path to glory. Catch up with the history and fascination that surrounds these forceful characters on the History Channel website and get ready for round two. The second season starts now, and you won't want to miss a second of the action. With rich production design and a cast of actors that will captivate immediately, the Vikings is the new hot must-watch show. With all the new short season episodic adventures on television these days, the Vikings rings true in an addictive vein, and leaves us wanting more. And more.

Violence? Check. Bloodshed? Check. Brotherly feud? Check. Awkward love triangle that results in devoted wife leaving philandering husband? Check. And all of that takes place in just the first episode of the History Channel's second season of their hit show, Vikings. This historical drams takes viewers into the exciting and dangerous world of the Viking warriors and their families. Vikings centers around the story of Viking warrior Ragnar Lothbrok, his desire to explore the western world across the ocean, and the struggles he has to overcome, both within his own family, and among his fellow warriors. With captivating story lines, beautifully rendered scenery and costumes, and stellar acting across the boards, Vikings is an absolute gem of a show. Two thumbs up from this panelist!

What's better then a heart pounding suspense filled story with beautiful scenery and a handsome cast? Well one that's based on history of course! Vikings season 2 premieres February 27th on the History Channel and you will not want to miss it. This historical drama is so well done, you really think you are watching a Hollywood movie. I know what you are thinking, Vikings, horns, ships, gore but I promise you this series offers so much more to the viewer. The plot is carefully thought out and the writing well done, nothing cheesy or overdone. Filled with drama, romance, suspense and the struggle for power, there is surely something to appeal to every viewer. Get ready to watch my new favorite series, Vikings Season 2 on the History Channel.

Last spring, HISTORY® introduced viewers to a clan of Norse warriors with a rapacious appetite for warfare, knowledge and power. The gripping family saga of Ragnar, Rollo, Lagertha, friends and enemies was a tale of brutality and passion, alliances and infidelities, infighting and death. It portrayed life in the Dark Ages, a world ruled by raiders and explorers, through the eyes of Viking society.

The epic tale continues in 10 all-new episodes of VIKINGS, premiering Thursday, February 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HISTORY®. The hit scripted drama series centers on Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), a restless young warrior and family man who longs to find and conquer new lands across the sea and claim the spoils as his own. Now he is an Earl, allied with King Horrik (Donal Logue). With more power than ever before, his desire to sail west and explore new kingdoms remains unquenchable.

Yet there’s a heavy price to pay for Ragnar’s ascent to greatness. Season two brings crises of faith, of power, of relationships. Brothers rise up against one another. Loyalties shift from friend to foe, and unlikely alliances are formed in the name of supremacy. Ragnar’s indiscretions threaten his marriage to Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), tearing him and his beloved son apart. Plots are hatched, scores are settled, blood is spilled…all under the watchful eyes of the gods.

New to the cast of VIKINGS are Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) as Bjorn, the intelligent and bold warrior son of Ragnar Lothbrok, and Linus Roache (Law & Order) as Ecbert, King of Wessex, a man of strength, knowledge and undisguised ambition. They join Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok; Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha, a fierce shield maiden and Ragnar’s wife; Clive Standen as Rollo, Ragnar’s impulsive, wild, care-free brother; George Blagden as Athelstan, a young and not-so-innocent Monk; Jessalyn Gilsig as Siggy, beautiful wife of the late Earl Haraldson; Donal Logue as King Horrik, who desires to make the increasingly famous Earl Ragnar an ally and supporter; Gustaf Skarsgard, a ship builder who designs the new generation of Vikings ships; and Alyssa Sutherland as Princess Aslaug, Ragnar’s new love interest.

Over its nine episode first season, VIKINGS became the #1 new cable series of the year, averaging 4.3 million total viewers, 2.0 million Adults 25-54 and 1.8 Adults 18-49.

Created and written by Michael Hirst – one of the premier historical story-tellers in the industry (Academy-Award winning film Elizabeth; and the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated series The Tudors), Michael serves as Executive Producer along with Morgan O’Sullivan of World 2000 (The Count of Monte Cristo; The Tudors), John Weber of Take 5 Productions (The Tudors; The Borgias), Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer, James Flynn (The Tudors; The Borgias) and Sheila Hockin (The Tudors; The Borgias).
