PRODUCT ALERT: Badgley Mischka Couture



Mark Badgley and James Mischka have been design partners for more than two decades – together building a heritage of designing exquisite and luxurious gowns. Their glamorous history and heralded collections inspired the team’s newest fragrance, Badgley Mischka Couture. There was a launch event recently at Elizabeth Arden on Fifth Avenue.

Badgley Mischka Couture is a welcome addition to the Badgley Mischka fragrance portfolio, and is especially appropriate as the Badgley Mischka brand is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in the Spring of 2009. There is a unique synergy in the talented duo. They met while studying at Parsons School of Design in New York and share a similar aesthetic about clothes and the way people dress. Both men spent time designing for leading names – Badgley for Donna Karan, Mischka for the men's collection of WilliWear WilliSmith – before starting their own line. In 1993, after a quick rise to fashion fame, Badgley Mischka joined forces with Escada to build a successful global business, expand into new areas, and elevate their company to the next level.

In October 2004, Candies, Inc., now known as Iconix Brand Group, acquired the Badgley Mischka brand from Escada, its parent company. With Iconix’s financial and marketing support, the Badgley Mischka label has flourished and become a true lifestyle brand, introducing a fine jewelry collection, watch collection and home collection in 2008.

With such an esteemed fashion history behind it, Badgley Mischka now celebrates its 20th anniversary by partnering with Elizabeth Arden to create a fragrance new Badgley Mischka Couture. Through their 20 years in the business, Badgley Mischka has never stopped adapting, while staying true to its original vision. “We started off with a rack of little black dresses (and one red one). Badgley Mischka has evolved into a brand that addresses many aspects of a woman’s life, always from a point of view of glamour and luxury.” Badgley concludes, “We have seen trends come and go, but the one thing that remains is that, at the end of the day, women want to feel beautiful.
