What are "veneers"? Whom You Know wants you to know!

Dental veneers are ultra-thin custom made laminates that are bonded directly to teeth.

They are used as a cosmetic tool to close gaps, disguise discolored or chipped teeth, or to generally improve one's overall smile. Dental veneers fall into the category of cosmetic dentistry because of their ability to create a luminescent, bright smile and beautifully shaped teeth. With the translucent qualities of the ceramic materials that are used to fabricate the veneers, this procedure has become more natural looking than ever.

Veneers can cover teeth that are cracked, fractured, worn down, or misaligned. Crooked and misaligned teeth corrected by veneers can give someone a completely new appearance and a wonderful new smile. Veneers should last about fifteen years but with good oral hygiene and maintenance can last longer. Although veneers may cost slightly more than other types of cosmetic restorations, their resistance to stains and light reflective abilities give them the ability to be amongst the most durable cosmetic restorative procedures that are offered.
