NIGHTLIGHT: Happy Birthday and Congratulations to Brenda LaGrange Johnson! Whom You Know Covers the 28th Anniversary of the Hummingbird Gala

Last night at the Plaza Hotel, the 28th Anniversary of the Hummingbird Gala was held to honor Ambassador Brenda LaGrange Johnson, Philanthropist, Humanitarian and Mover and Shaker on Whom You Know.

Among those congratulating her last night in words and spirit were HRH The Prince of Wales: Prince Charles, President George Bush and President George W. Bush. At Whom You Know we like to think we feature classy, outstanding people who think that it is more important to be nice (as opposed to thinking it is nice to be important) as Movers and Shakers, and of everyone we have featured thus far, the overwhelmingly upbeat positive comments we heard about Brenda have been unsurpassed. Also, yesterday was her birthday!

The evening began with a Receiving Line, Reception and Silent Auction and Mr. Steve Higgins was Master of Ceremonies. After the Jamaican National Anthem and the American National Anthem, Ambassador Sue Cobb AFJ President spoke to the guests and later presented Ambassador Johnson with the International Humanitarian Award. The American Friends of Jamaica Inc. (AFJ) a 501 c (3) non profit organization established to support social and economic development in the island of Jamaica

Mrs. La Grange Johnson joins a high-profile team of past AFJ International Humanitarian Awardees, ranging from entertainment mogul and Island Outpost founder, Chris Blackwell; Father Richard Ho Lung~ involved with Missionaries of the Poor; Ralph Ricky Lauren of Polo Ralph Lauren; Edgar and Louise Cullman~ Humanitarians and Philanthropists; Hon. Oliver F. Clarke, O.J of the Gleaner Company and Diageo Corporation; Michele Rollins~ Chairman of Rosehall Developments; and last years’ New York awardee: Heavyweight Champion, Lennox Lewis.
