Peachy at The Met: Bronzino opens tomorrow and it is an exhibit to see!

We first told you about Agnolo Bronzino:

Today we had a chance to see this amazing exhibit during the Press Preview, and we can assure you this is not one to be missed!  The talent of Bronzino has obviously withstood the test of time, and as time has gone on, more and more of his works have been discovered as you will see when you read the details depicted by each drawing.

From a suburb of Florence, Bronzino was a standout draftsman, painter and poet.  An artist to Florentine Nobility, Bronzino has 61 works in the exhibit at The Met that opens to the public tomorrow.  His drawing was functional for frescoes, altarpieces, portraits and tapestries but as you will be able to tell, they are a work of art in themselves.

We like the Head of a Sitting Child in Black Chalk; Bronzino switched from red to black chalk during his career.  Also in black chalk from 1527 "Head of a Curly-Haired Child looking up to the Right,"was quite captivating.  He clearly mastered the look of an upturned child's head!  If you are into Angels or Greek Mythology, there is something for you at this exhibit.

The detail in the hair of "Standing Male Nude in Three-Quarter Length Seen from the Rear" 1545-60 is fabulous.  This was part of a group of drawings for frescoes and has amazing sculptural quality with the rounding of individual muscles.  "Modello for 'The Resurrection'" ca 1548-52 is highly finished in contrast to most of the exhibit.  Be sure to check this one out as it is among the most complete.  The detail is absolutely exquisite.

We recommend Bronzino!  We do love The Met!  Here is a schedule of their exhibitions:
