His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated the first international Bloomingdale's stores, part of a venture between Al Tayer Insignia LLC and Macy's, Inc.

The two Bloomingdale's locations - a three level apparel and accessories store across 146,000 square feet and a one-level Home store across 54,000 square feet - now anchor The Dubai Mall, one of the world's largest shopping centers (by site area).

Delivering a world-class retail experience, Bloomingdale's Dubai is a full-line, upscale department store showcasing a brand portfolio representing the latest and most desirable merchandise across every category throughout both, the main and Home stores.

"This is a momentous occasion for us to be opening the first international Bloomingdale's stores in the Middle East and in the world's largest shopping mall. We recognize Dubai as a location that offers a dynamic and innovative retail environment and we look forward to adding to the success of our iconic stores in the USA," said Michael Gould, Bloomingdale's US Chairman and CEO, who was in Dubai for the launch.

With an investment of approximately 270 million AED the stores' design was conceived by Callison Architecture Inc and RYA Studio with direction from Jack Hruska, Bloomingdale's US Executive Vice President of Creative Services. Bloomingdale's Dubai is a modern, contemporary and international store that is not defined entirely by its location. Arabic influences are tenderly cushioned throughout the store as highlights. The detailing throughout the stores is clean and simple; the use of finishes and furniture, rather than a focus on fixtures, ensures a warm and residential feel.

Al Tayer Insignia CEO Shireen El Khatib said, "As luxury pioneers in the region we have ensured that the Bloomingdale's Dubai stores will encapsulate a world class retail experience including the best international brands, a contemporary store ambience and excellence in customer service. A team of over 527 across 40 nationalities will be instrumental in offering customers a shopping experience like no other."

Inspired by the flagship Bloomingdale's store in Manhattan on 59th Street and Lexington Avenue and the West Coast flagship in San Francisco, Bloomingdale's Dubai is a contemporary store with splashes of decorative elements throughout both stores, from the signature black and white checkerboard floors in crystallized marble to the hand blown glass chandeliers in Lingerie & Swimwear; the fountain at the heart of the Home store and to the serpentine walls of glowing white acrylic that light up the Women?s Footwear department.

Located at The Atrium of The Dubai Mall, the Bloomingdale's main store provides direct access to The Address Hotel and showcases an esteemed international brand portfolio of apparel, beauty, fine jewellery and accessories across three floors and an approximate 146,000 square feet. The 'Drum,' an architectural feature that accentuates the height of The Atrium, provides a strong focal point that bathes the store in diffused natural light during the day.

Customary with the world's most famous store, the Bloomingdale's main store offers a highly personalized shopping service, At Your Service set in a black lacquered room contrasted with white lacquer and eclectic furnishings; 11,000 square feet for Beauty on the ground floor; and b. Shine salons for men and women respectively. An array of Food & Beverage concepts are located throughout the main store from the signature Forty Carrots for New York's most favoured frozen yogurt since the 1970s; Elixir juice bar and a Bloomie's Coffee bar.

The entire first floor of the main store is dedicated to women, including Designer, Contemporary, Eveningwear, Casual & Denim and Lingerie & Swimwear. A soft beige and natural looking palette with porcelain flooring bordered by black tones provides a central navigation aisle across the entire floor. Natural marble and hornbeam wood flooring highlight the women's designer area with strong architectural frames creating boundaries for differentiation between brands.

On the second floor, the men's world encompasses Designer, Contemporary, Footwear, Shirts, Ties & Accessories, and Casual & Denim in a fusion of reclaimed timber, cerused oak and luster yarn carpets.

Other prominent features of the main store include Boutique 'Shop in Shops' from luxury fashion houses YSL, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo, Balenciaga, Coach and Armani Collezioni; an Exotic Leather destination; a Concierge Desk for priority customer service; a dedicated Fragrance Hall clad in beveled mirror with accents of metallic lilac presenting a wide selection of fragrances; the largest designer footwear department in the region; and a children's world with interactive games, rides and toy machines.

Moving across The Dubai Mall, a short distance away, the Bloomingdale's Home store is located on the Lower Ground Floor. Also featuring the iconic Bloomingdale's black and white checkerboard flooring, the Home store is truly an emporium for every room of the home from furniture, bedding, cookware, kitchen accessories, fine china, crystal, textiles to custom furnishings and decorative accessories.

An avenue of specialty shops, the Street of Shops, with a water fountain at its heart, will draw people in to the Bloomingdale's Home store. This fusion of shops encompasses gastronomic delicacies from the first international Magnolia Bakery renowned for cupcakes; an ice cream parlor aptly named Bloomie's Ice Cream; a lifestyle concept of custom blended and fragrant teas from SalonTea; literary delights from leading book connoisseurs Assouline and Rizzoli New York; a Travel store; the Art Gallery for the best in regional art; and three dedicated gift stores including a selection of iconic Bloomingdale's keepsakes in the New York, New York store; the Arabic Bazaar for a blend of traditional and contemporary artifacts and the Vintage store offering a discovery shop of antiques from across the globe.

Other highlights of the Home store include Gift Registry; a state of the art demonstration kitchen for live cooking and a team of full-time interior designers at the dedicated Interior Design Studio to assist customers in creating the room and home of their dreams.

The most famous store in the world is often described more as a lifestyle than as a store. With the new Bloomingdale's stores opening in Dubai, shoppers in the region will now have the luxury of a rich choice of offerings across various categories of merchandise.
