These pre-registration figures are on par with International Vision Expo East 2009; trends show that more than half of all attendees register in the last six weeks before the show.  “We are pleased with the way pre-registration has been progressing this year,” said Tom Loughran, vice president for Reed Exhibitions. “We are continuing to promote our show specials, what’s new in exhibitors’ booths, and the travel, entertainment and nightlife discounts available to help deliver eye care professionals and buyers to the show.”

A pre-show survey taken by those who have already registered for International Vision Expo provides a glimpse into what influences eye care professionals in their decision to attend the show.

“We found it very interesting that 58 percent of pre-show survey participants feel that networking with their peers helps them feel better about the economy. With thousands of eye care professionals and manufacturers gathered in one location, International Vision Expo East is certainly a great place for networking,” noted Loughran.  In addition, 61 percent say that hotel and transportation are an extremely important factor. The areas of interest on the show Web site (fashion trends, continuing education, lens technology, medical eye care and business solutions) were also ranked by 61 percent as extremely valuable.

“Research shows that navigation is a key issue for International Vision Expo attendees, including getting to the show and finding areas of interest once they are on the floor,” said Loughran. “Our pre-show planner, which will be mailed out in the coming weeks, is a great tool to help attendees map out their time and assist them in navigating the show.”

New lines and launches will fill showcases in the New

Product Gallery at International Vision Expo East, held March 19-21, 2010 at the Jacob K. Javits
Center in New York City. Located in the Crystal Palace of the Javits Center, the New Product
Gallery displays the latest in frames, accessories and technologies being introduced at the
show.  According to Dana Brady, exhibitor marketing consultant for Reed Exhibitions, the New Product Gallery has been a fixture at International Vision Expo East since 2003. “The Gallery is in a prime location, allowing over 14,000 attendees and media representatives to get a first glance of the new and exciting products at the show before they even step on the exhibit hall floor,” Brady noted.  Whom You Know is looking forward to bringing you the best in our upcoming features!  We were so pleased to see the Jennifer Creel line (Modo) as they are our favorite sunglasses!  We look forward to learning about more choices for petite styles in the industry.

BizBash, the leading trade magazine for the event industry, named International Vision Expo East as one of the top 100 annual events in New York in its latest issue. International Vision Expo East, co-owned by Reed Exhibitions and The Vision Council, came in ninth in the Trade Show and Conventions category.

International Vision Expo East was chosen from the hundreds of thousands of events held annually in New York by consensus opinions from experts, as well as the BizBash editorial team. The events featured in the magazine are described as those that command influence despite the economic situation. In its listing, BizBash notes that in 2009 International Vision Expo brought over 14,000 industry professionals (over 19,000 including exhibitors) to New York City with a conference and exhibition that focused on education, fashion, technology and advice for improving business in an unfavorable economy.

“It’s great to be recognized for the third year in a row by BizBash as one of the top events in New York, in particular as one of the top trade shows and conventions,” said Tom Loughran, vice president for Reed Exhibitions. “As noted in the magazine, 2009 was a tough year for trade shows; however, International Vision Expo adjusted its approach to the show to deliver quality buyers to the show, as well as to the city.”
