The annual American Ireland Fund Young Leaders St. Patrick’s Day Celebration was held last night at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. More than 700 young professionals attended New York’s premier St. Patrick’s event, which has helped to raise over $1 million since 2006 in support of Irish and Irish-American philanthropic causes.   We have written about 158 events in Nightlight in the last 13 months since Whom You Know began prior to this one, and this was one of the very best.

The American Ireland Fund is one of our most favorite organizations because Ireland is so dear to us.  It would be very hard to top last night in terms of the quality of the organization, the quality of the crowd, and all other components of a successful event.  We also covered the event last May:

At the celebration, the Young Leaders presented the 2010 Young Leaders Irish Spirit Award to Jimmy Fallon (shown above) host of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and long time cast member of Saturday Night Live. Jimmy’s appearance crowned the event. He was funny and gracious and could not have been a better representative for the Irish-American community in New York.
“The New York Young Leaders are a wonderful group of dedicated professionals who worked tirelessly to make this year’s event a greater success than ever,” said Kieran McLoughlin, President of The American Ireland Fund.  “Their enthusiasm and commitment is inspiring and we are proud of everything that they have accomplished on behalf of The American Ireland Fund.”

Event Co-Chairs Terence Doran and James Duffy commented, “There were a number of obstacles we faced this year due to the current economic climate but thanks to the efforts of our St. Patrick’s Celebration Committee, we continued to build on the success of prior years in organizing what has become New York City’s premier St. Patrick’s Celebration which was of course all the more enhanced by our all-star honoree, Jimmy Fallon.”
