March Event Details:
1. St. Patrick's Day Parade and After-Party You are invited to march up 5th Avenue on March 17 with the IBO: join us in the biggest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the world! Also we are having an after-party! From Sheila Lynott, who is chairing the IBO parade committee this year: Next year is the 250 anniversary of the St Patrick's Day parade and the parade committee are already pulling out the stops for it.
This year the IBO intends to win and award and be rewarded by being bumped to the front of the parade. Wouldn't it be fab and terrific publicity if we were up front next year. So we need to pull out all the stops this year in order for this to happen. We are getting coaching advice by 2 of the judges of the parade committee who are on our side in moving us up and it is truly invaluable.. We need to ensure a large (minimum 30 members) uniformed unit so this year we are requesting everyone to dress in black/dark Business Attire with everyone wearing a green carnation (given to you on the day). No yellow raincoats please!

January 29th New York City : BARLEYJUICE-- Kyf Brewer, Keith Swanson, Billy Dominick, Jimmy Carbomb, Eric Worthington and Gregor Schroeder – excite their fans with their unrepentant testosterone filled Celtic Rock. SEARSON – Sisters Erin, Heather, Colleen and drummer Mary Gellner – Femme Fatales of the Celtic Music Scene who burn the floor with their fiddle playing and footstomping.NOW -- both bands come together to battle it out as 'Irish Boys Vs Irish Girls' at Connolly's Klub 45 on March 11th, 8:30 PM
BARLEYJUICE have been described as "Infectious…fun…delightful." The band has released many cds, the latest being 'Bonnie Prince Barley', an album of songs steeped in originals that sound like traditionals and have you happily ride the wave until the very last note has faded. Shay Clarke of radio WDCB says that Barleyjuice plays, "Toe tapping, hand clapping, whiskey drinking, crowd pleasing, high stepping music that makes the blood flow a little faster." The band is a favorite on the Festival scene.
The musical experience SEARSON, features the talents of sisters, Colleen on fiddle, Erin on piano and Heather on bass to create a showcase full of their talents. Says The Irish Amercian News,"Searson astounds their audiences with unguarded sincerity in their vocals, raw fiddling and ferocious step dancing.." They have expanded the musical culture from where they grew up in Ottowa Valley,Canada, to a create contemporary sound based on their heritage, the musical traditions of the first groups of immigrants to arrive there, the English, the Scottish and the Irish. Says another music critic, "Their high energy is contagious."

"Joe Hurley's Irish-Rock-A-Palooza receives rave reviews every year as the biggest St Pat's Party in town-Hurley himself is revered for his soulful Shane MacGowan-esque baritone" NEW YORK MAGAZINE
Here's what to expect: A PADDY ROCK & ROLL CIRCUS! Every year during the St Patrick's season, NYC singer/songwriter Joe Hurley salutes his Irish heritage with a blazing extravaganza of performers and songs that celebrate Ireland's musical gifts to the world - The All-Star Irish Rock Revue.
Gathering friends from NYC punk-rock legends to Broadway stars, from best-selling novelists to star comedians -- from Rock & Roll Hall-Of-Famers to downtown luminaries -- from visiting Irish entertainers to up and coming local singers, the performers all dive into Hurley's vision of'The Great Irish Songbook', backed by The Revue's sublime All-Star band, led by MD Jon Spurney (Passing Strange MD), Mark Bosch-Guitar (Ian Hunter), Tony Shanahan-Bass (Patti Smith),Steve Goulding-Drums (Mekons, Elvis Costello), Kenny Margolis-accordion (Cracker),Megan Weeder-violin and downtown's own Tish & Snooky-backing vocals.

From The punk of the Undertones "Teenage Kicks" to the soul of Van Morrison's "Domino"; from the pure rock bliss of Thin Lizzy's 'The Boys are Back In Town" and U2's "I Will Follow" to the poetry of the Pogues' "Sally MacLennan" -- the songs of the Irish are sung by an incredibly electric and extraordinary group of performers.
Hosted by Joe Hurley and Ed Rogers, the IRR kicks off at 7:00 pm sharp. DJ GAZ of EAST VILLAGE RADIO spins Irish artists between sets. And, UK comic legend Stephen Frost is flying in to perform and help out with hosting duties.
