NIGHTLIGHT: East Side House Settlement Hosts the 11th Annual Gala Preview of the 2010 New York International Auto Show

On April 1, 2010East Side House Settlement hosted the 11th Annual Gala Preview of the 2010 New York International Auto Show.  Over 1,400 guests from the worlds of Wall Street, fashion, arts, sports, and Society enjoyed a private viewing of the entire auto show before it officially opened to the public.  The evening included cocktails, a private dinner for benefactors, a silent and live auction, and “Fully Loaded” - a rare collection of NYC’s most exclusive, privately-owned, customized cars and new 2010 automobiles and motorcycles unveiled and on display for one night only.   We particularly loved the Mercedes SLS AMG:
The evening’s highlight was the preview of the new Aston Martin Rapide - one of the most eagerly awaited cars of 2010.  During dinner, Christie’s auctioneer Lydia Fenet auctioned off an exclusive driving package in this hot new car, followed by important college scholarships for East Side House Settlement students.  The Gala Preview was chaired by Philip L. Yang and Joan P. Young and the benefit committee was chaired by Kipton Cronkite, Fe Fendi, and Paige Ethington Hardy.  The media sponsor was New York magazine.

The event raised more than $250,000 to support East Side House Settlement, a leading social service agency that serves the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx.  The event was made possible through the generosity of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA), and the New York International Auto Show.  The GNYADA’s proud tradition of dedicated community service has allowed East Side House Settlement to open and operate two new high schools for under credited youth in the South Bronx.

Gentlemen (and ladies), start your engines!  It's that time of year again, the New York International Auto Show has begun its official run.  On April 1, 2010, the day prior to opening to the general public, the East Side House Settlement hosted its 11th Annual Gala Preview of the New York International Auto Show and Whom You Know was invited to share in the festivities.  The Gala Preview included cocktails, a private dinner for benefactors, and a silent and live auction, plus a chance to view the entire show, including "Fully Loaded", a rare collection of NYC's most exclusive, privately-owned, customized cars and new 2010 automobiles and motorcycles that were unveiled and on display for one night only.  The proceeds of this evening benefits The East Side House Settlement, a leading social services agency that serves young people and families in the South Bronx.  One of the favorites of the evening amongst the Whom You Know crew was this 1937 SS Jaguar 100 3.5 Litre in the most beautiful shade of salmon/pink ever seen, it came equipped with its own bodyguard and this is only the 2nd time it has been displayed in the public in the last 50 years!  All the major car manufacturers are in attendance at the show and most of the cars displayed are enticing enough to turn the average person into a car afficionado, or to at least dream a bit.  Mercedes-Benz upped the ante by holding their own cocktail event at their spot on the floor, raffling off some cool prizes and showing a 3-D movie that features all their latest and greatest models.  For the obsessed or even general car enthusiast out there, Whom You Know strongly recommends buying a ticket to this Gala Preview each year, there's nothing like getting to leisurely stroll thru the show, cocktail in hand and getting to view some of the most coveted and unique vehicles in the world of automobiles. Thanks to Sharp Communications, Inc. for a great job in organizing and publicizing this event.  And best of luck to The East Side House Settlement in reaching your fundraising goals.
