Peachy at The Met: An Italian Journey: Drawings from the Tobey Collection, Correggio to Tiepolo

On May 12, this impressive exhibit debuts to the public but Peachy just saw it, and it is a beautiful one!  We love the Met, and we love the quiet of it that we experience during the previews.  There is nothing like ascending the staircase in the middle by yourself when all is still and serene.  (Peachy loves stairs like this; they remind her of arenas and stadiums.)  The hot air balloon is gone from last Monday, but new arrangements are going up!

We love collecting ourselves, so when we see the collections of others we have great respect for them.  Our original coverage of this exhibit from a factual basis:

The condition of everything in this exhibit is completely phenomenal, as you would expect.  However, it is still impressive that these prints look as good as they do for their age.  We particuarly liked the Bonconpagni Dragon as it has great character.  It's a heraldic emblem of a Pope.  The Bontanical Specimen had great detail in the veins of the leaf and it is the only green print we saw.  The green is so vivid for a 400 year old work!  Later we saw the Naval Battle print which had incredible shadows and minute detail that was exquisite.  Above you see the Grand Canal, Venice looking North from the Rialto bridge, by Canaletto.  The prints of Venice were our favorite, along with the best of Barney Tobey and the New Yorker.  Check this out!
