UPCOMING NIGHTLIGHT TONIGHT: SOLDIERS’, SAILORS’, MARINES’, COAST GUARD AND AIRMEN’S CLUB (SSMAC) TO HOLD ITS 14TH ANNUAL MILITARY BALL ******* Tony Sirico of “The Sopranos” and “The Last Honeymooner” Joyce Randolph to be On-Hand for the Festivities

More than 250 guests are expected to attend The Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, Coast Guard and Airmen’s Club Military Ball tonight at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. Every year SSMAC honors a branch of the United States Military and this year, the United States Army is being saluted with patriotic fanfare and festivities.  


Also expected to be on-hand will be Tony Sirico of “The Sopranos” and “The Last Honeymooner,” Joyce Randolph. 


Those honored at this annual event will receive hand-cast brass eagles to commemorate the evening. Military honorees include General Peter W. Chiarelli, Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army and John M. McHugh, Secretary of the United States Army. Accepting the awards for these two distinguished honorees is Army Lieutenant General William J. Troy, Director of Army Staff.       


The SSMAC Distinguished Media Achievement Award will be presented to television personality and author and our Mover and Shaker Rita Cosby by WPIX-TV legend Marvin Scott, who received the award last year. Dr. and Mrs. Robert D. Wickham, longtime supporters of SSMAC, will also be honored for their service to the Club.

Among those expected to attend are: SSMAC Chairman Ivan Obolensky; Cynthia and Tony Maltese; Maris M. Van Alen; Margaret and Gregory Hedberg; Alan Z. FeuerMarvin and Lorri Scott; Katie R. GardnerCountess Nicholas Bobrinskoy (Tania) and Mrs. Ryland E.D Chase. Music will be provided by Alex Donner and his Orchestra.  


Proceeds from the evening will go to benefit SSMAC, www.ssmaclub.org, a non-profit organization that, since 1919, has provided warm, friendly, and safe accommodations for more than two and a half million men and women of the armed forces, as well as those of our allies.
