Preview Friday January 21, 4-9 pm

Master Drawings New York the highly successful event celebrating its fifth anniversary returns to New York City’s Upper East Side on January 22 to January 29, 2011 with a preview viewing on Friday January 21 from 4 o’clock to 9 o’clock pm. The preview viewing will be in each of the participating 25 exhibitors’ galleries. The exhibitors from the United States, the United Kingdom and France will show an outstanding selection of work from the 15th to the 20th centuries with prices ranging from $2,000 to over $ 1 million. The selection of works on paper includes oil sketches, water colors, drawings in charcoal, pencil and pen and ink.

Master Drawings is based on the highly successful Master Drawings London which will celebrate its 11th anniversary in July 2011. The week long event in New York will provide collectors with an opportunity to buy works from 25 leading specialists all within walking distance of one another. New exhibitors this year are Adler & Conkright Fine Art, Barbara Mathes Gallery, Les Enluminures, Richard L. Feigen & Co and Mirelle Mosler Ltd/ Henrique Faria Fine Art. Hill-Stone Inc and Marianne Elrick-Manley are returning to Master Drawings New York. Additional new exhibitors will be finalized shortly.

First time exhibitor Adler & Conkright Fine Art is showing a colored inks and collage on paper ‘Bahnsteig’ 1919-20 by Robert Michel. Barbara Mathes Gallery will highlight an untitled Joan Mitchell (1926-1952) a water color on paper. Paris based Les Enluminures will present a themed exhibition of manuscripts ‘France 1500’. ‘Job Beset by Satan’ by Noel Bellemare is one of the drawings featured in this group. Returning exhibitor Hill-Stone Inc will also be exhibiting at The Winter Antique Show on Park Avenue.
  
L’Antiquaire & The Connoisseur will showcase a stunning ‘Landscape with a Shepherd and Flock’ by Gaspar van Wittel called Gaspare Vanvitelli, black and brown ink and grey wash on cream laid paper. Master Drawing organizer Crispian Riley-Smith will exhibit a water color by Francesco Zuccarelli ‘A Landscape with Peasants and Cattle and Sheep beside a River,’ Mia Weiner will highlight an important drawing by Jacopo Ligozzi ‘Two Angels with Symbols of the Passion’ a monogrammed study for the painting of “The Triumph of Santa Giulia”in the Duomo of Livorno.

            

   
           

Master Drawings New York, now in its fifth consecutive year provides collectors with a rare opportunity to spend one week visiting over twenty different galleries who specialize in drawings and fine art. All galleries are located on The Upper East Side of New York City. The participating gallery list is still in formation. Additional information will be provided by the beginning of November.  Master Drawings London, which also includes a similar number of outstanding galleries, will celebrate its 11th anniversary July 1-8, 2011.
