Positive Trend in Men’s Support of Leading Female Roles

The White House Project’s 9th Annual EPIC Awards honoring Outstanding Efforts to Promote Images of Powerful Women in Pop Culture was held last night in Manhattan and Whom You Know was honored to attend.   We met so many Movers and Shakers to be and were especially impressed with Dominique Dawes who even chatted with our readers on video: http://www.whomyouknow.com/2011/04/sporty-peachy-exclusive-olympian.html

Here are Dominique and Peachy:
We love love love Barbie!!! Barbie is a staple of childhood and we totally think it is unamerican not to love Barbie, plus she is a total trendsetter.  Everyone with refined taste that reads Whom You Know LOVES Barbie.  Peachy started with Skipper herself but played with them all including Barbie, Ken, PJ and more and loves them.  She was pretty excited to about TV News Anchor Barbie...We loved meeting Stephanie Cota, SVP of Global Marketing for Girls Brands at Mattel and you know Peachy spent a decade on Wall Street and would like to see Banker Barbie (as in an investment banker, not a bank teller!)...we certainly would like to see a woman in the White House at Whom You Know but believe that kind of change will come when women have more control in the business world and in particular, hold a far higher percentage than 10% of senior positions at Wall Street Firms.    In analyst classes right out of school about half of the class is female, and Peachy was in one ages ago.  About 10% of Vice Presidents are women in banking and Peachy made it to that point.

We love love love sports and in addition to Dominique we loved meeting Olympian Heather Reilly.  Both of these women in addition to Chelsea Baker, who was a total peach, really inspire the rest of us.  We loved meeting music sensation Gabi Wilson, you all should be watching AnnaSophia Robb in Soul Surfer which we believe comes out today-she was a delight to meet, and one of our favorite people of the evening was Lisa Cortes who exudes extraordinary taste: we could not agree more that Champagne and Prosecco are not one and the same.  But no matter, Lisa is going to come with us to Swifty's to drink The Peachy Deegan which has Star Vodka of course.  Our total favorite there was Loreen Arbus but you know that because she is a Mover and Shaker!  The Loreen Arbus hit parade is going to continue soon with Peckie Arbus!

Here are all of her recent accolades

At Whom You Know we believe that although training for the White House is a great idea, it really must start in families as both girls and boys grow up, and also it is crucial to advance single sex education.  Institutions like Miss Porter's School encourage their graduates to excel in a changing world and they sent Peachy to Capital Hill as an intern a long time ago, before The White House Project existed.  This is an organization to watch and we suggest you keep a close eye on it and support it.

A fabulous event by James Grant Public Relations!  You know he made our Top Ten Best Dressed Men in Manahattan List:

http://www.whomyouknow.com/2011/04/top-ten-best-dressed-men-in-manhattan.html
Last night James wore a Blue airman blazer and ferragamo tie!  Here are Peachy Deegan and James Grant.  James has one of the best public relations firms around nationally!  Maybe internationally too as we did work with him on a movie review for Cannes.  We didn't put him in our recent PR poll because that was only focused on Manhattan and James is the most from coast to coast.  He is probably reading this on a plane!
