BONHAMS OFFERS A RARE £2.2 MILLION DIAMOND IN THE NEW YORK FINE JEWELLERY SALE

A magnificent 22.87 carat diamond solitaire ring is one of the highlights of the Bonhams Fine Jewellery auction in New York on December 13th.
The ring is just one of a group of four exceptional jewellery pieces from a private Californian collection.

Susan Abeles, Director of Jewellery US at Bonhams, comments, “The jewellery department at Bonhams is honoured to offer this exceptional collection of jewellery. The 22.87 carat emerald-cut D colour Flawless clarity, Type IIa is a rare diamond. It belongs to an exclusive category of diamonds because of its colour, clarity and classification. Rarely does one find these superior qualities, which have long been associated with the historic Golconda diamonds.”

This diamond possesses the purity and transparency of water, only found in 2% of the world’s diamonds, making it extraordinary. With a pre-sale estimate of $3 – 3.5 million (£1.9 - £2.2 million) there is no doubt that this is a stone that will be recognised by diamond connoisseurs for its exceptional attributes.

Also included in the collection is a fancy yellow diamond necklace of exceptional quality with a total weight of yellow diamonds being 82.26 carats, alternating with nearly colourless diamonds weighing 27.10 carats (est. $500,000-750,000). This necklace is also offered together in the sale with a similar bracelet and pendant earrings (est, respectively $400,000-500,000 and $50,000-70,000).

The sale of this collection of four outstanding jewellery pieces will take place immediately following the Fine Jewellery auction in New York, simulcast in San Francisco and Los Angeles, at approximately 2pm EST.
