THE INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT & FOODSERVICE SHOW OF NEW YORK SET TO OPEN SUNDAY, MARCH 4 AT THE JACOB K. JAVITS CONVENTION CENTER

The 19th annual International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York is the place where restaurant and foodservice professionals can learn the latest culinary trends, techniques and tools from top chefs and culinary industry experts who will also offer insight on efficiency and profitability. The Conference and Expo will be held Sunday, March 4 to Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. There are dozens of visual and exciting story ideas; here are some of the highlights:
New for 2012 The Front of House Experience will be the most talked about area at this year's event. This section focuses on how to create a more memorable inviting experience, because the battle for customer loyalty begins with first impressions. Five unique sets will be on display including: dining room, lounge, and bar. All featuring latest designs, colors and product options. Everything from tables, chairs, couches, lighting, table top displays and multiple décor solutions.
Healthy Solutions Pavilion and Theater is an exciting new feature that will assist restaurant and foodservice professionals in their quest to source and deliver healthy dining options. Together with Betsy Craig, CEO of Kitchens with Confidence, we have gathered together experts to present the top information on healthy trends-quick tips and actionable strategies to apply immediately!
2012 Foodservice Council for Women - The second New York Presentation and Networking Event "Breaking Barriers to Success- How to be Unstoppable in Life and Business!" will be Monday, March 5, 8-10am. A dynamic panel of industry leaders will share their real life experience for overcoming obstacles to success and insights on how to become unstoppable! The Foodservice Council for Women was founded in 2011 to provide both on-line and off-line communities for women to connect, exchange and discuss relevant topics in foodservice.
Paris Gourmet will present The 23rd Annual U.S. Pastry Competition - The event allows leading pastry chefs to showcase their talents by creating advanced dessert and chocolate bonbon recipes exhibited along with highly technical sugar and chocolate sculpted showpieces. The 2012 showpiece theme is The Four Elements: Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. Twenty rising stars of the pastry world have been selected to compete for the coveted title, Pastry Chef of the Year.
The Demonstration Theater is an educational, interactive and entertaining area for restaurant and foodservice professionals who want to stay abreast of what's hot in the food world. Chefs who will be doing demonstrations include Certified Master Chef Fritz Sonnenschmidt, Hell's Kitchen Season 6 runner up Executive Chef Kevin Cottle, and others.
The Ultimate Barista Challenge™ is an action packed competition where barista, someone who professionally prepares coffee, compete in a dueling stage of identical espresso stations to shake, not stir, their espresso cocktails, to prepare beautiful cafe latte art, blend espresso frappe and brew the best they have.
Join the Women's Foodservice Forum and the International Restaurant and Foodservice Show of New York for an industry networking breakfast and panel discussion on The Power of Influence and The Art of Diplomacy. This session will be moderated by Kathleen Wood, Founder, Kathleen Wood Partners, LLC with Panelists Kate Shehan, Vice President, Human Resources, Legal Sea Foods; Dana Slagle, Vice President, National Accounts; The Steritech Group, Inc.; and Joan Axelrod Siegelwax, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Love and Quiches Desserts. Japanese Pavilion and Culinary Competition - For the sixth consecutive year, the Japan Pavilion will acquaint the industry with the unique flavors and exciting new innovations of Japan. The Japan Pavilion will feature various food products, demonstrations and seminars. Highlights consist of five major categories: Soul Food, Wine & Spirits, Products, Marketing Support, and Special Exhibitions. The Pavilion will also feature the Third Annual JRO Umami Culinary Challenge, which asks chefs to submit an original recipe using at least one of the specified Japanese ingredients.
The New York Wine Expo will be open to all International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York attendees on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 12-4 pm. The New York Wine Expo will offer samples of more than 640 wines from over 160 winemakers from around the globe. Producers include Argentina, New York, Oregon, Italy, France, New Zealand, Greece, Spain, and Portugal. Speak to winemakers and other winery principals who will pour for you, and pick up tips on selecting pricing and serving the right vintage.
